Store Stuff, News, and Tab Clearing
I want to apologize to the folks who were wondering why their
No Game No Life
collectors sets didn't ship out within minutes of their arrival last Friday. The primary problem was that we were closed for shipping last Friday, but a lot of people (who were on holiday themselves) apparently didn't remember. We had lots of pre-orders (like for
) for the new stuff that arrived last week, but order volume for NGNL was particularly heavy, especially when you include all the new orders that poured in recently. In fact, we ended up so swamped with new business for NGNL that we needed to breakup shipping of it into batches (lest we spend one entire business day just filling those).
I'm happy to report that as of COB yesterday ALL orders (old and new) for NGNL have been filled and are on the way, so now we'll be turning our attention to
Sailor Moon R
which we'll do our best to get out to door to you as fast as we can, though due to a similar problem I think it will take a couple of days - we have an awful lot of orders for it to fill too!
I can only attribute all the new faces we've seen around here recently to one of our major competitors, who has been very busy for the last couple of weeks working on upgrades and self destructing in the process. Anyway, once all our new friends get a taste for the RACS quality of service we hope that they will decide to stick around. :-)

Viz announced new English dub cast members for the
S anime series at its Sailor Moon panel at Anime Expo last Friday. The new cast members are:
Erica Mendez as Haruka Tenoh / Sailor Uranus
Lauren Landa as Michiru Kaioh / Sailor Neptune
Christine Marie Cabanos as Hotaru Tomoe / Sailor Saturn
Keith Silverstein as Professor Tomoe
Keith also plays Usagi's father Kenji Tsukino in Viz's dub. Don't ask me when the DVD/BD for SM-S is going to be scheduled, they haven't said a word yet.
In a bit of a surprise at Anime Expo, good old Stu Levy showed up with a carpet bag of 20 film and TV properties (including Knockouts and Riding Shotgun) in his hand and intentions to relaunch the TokyoPop brand here in the US to publish manga and possibly get into film and TV production. He said that TokyoPop should start publishing again in 2016 and will be seeking to license "hidden gems that are not yet noticed" from small or independent publishers. Well whoop-de-dooo! This is the exact same business model they had before when he ran the company into the ground and had to pull the plug on all of us in 2011 (which I'm still pretty salty about for several reasons), so while I always welcome new companies bringing more titles to our shores (except the ones that use the Japanese business model), color me skeptical that Stu will be able to make a go of this while still playing any sort of management role in the company. I guess it's good that he's staying busy though, and still can scrape up bus fair to get to a con. That's something I suppose.
And finally, in a news burb that's relevant to probably only me, the official website of AIC Project announced that the company has licensed the rights to the Saber Marionette work by Hiroshi Negishi and Satoru Akahori, and that a Saber "re:anime project" is launching. Negishi is listed as the company's representative director. Negishi also announced the project in his Twitter account on the same day. All you old timers know what a
fan I am, so while I'm looking forward to this, I also hope they don't screw it up.
RACS Collectable Art Cards #06 and #10 - Now Shipping with Orders!
Based on the feedback we've been getting, our summer series of RACS collectable cards are both vexing and delighting fans. So to make things even more delightful, we've added the next two cards in the series (#6 Ranshin Dojo and #10
Hearts), which will begin shipping with orders with the others at random today:
The addition of these new cards (making eight currently) will slightly decrease the odds that any particular card will be included with your order, however, we've made sure that we've produced enough of each that if you are a regular RACS customer over the next few months there is a good chance
(despite duplicates) that
you will be able to collect them all.
And if you like RACS trivia, the 'Ranshin' Dojo art piece features Noemi, Himiko, and Asagi and was done several years ago. 'Ranshin' is a word play on our previous warehouse location in Ranson, WV that was a large old open warehouse building with a wooden floor that everyone said reminded them of a dojo. We outgrew that facility in 2005 (I think they do Yoga classes there now) and moved to our current location in Winchester VA the following year. Shotoken Hearts was a much later piece and shows a slightly older Noemi, Yukiko, and Sayoko (in a rare pose with her hair tied back). Both pieces feature the girls doing what they do best - kicking ass, taking names, and upholding the RACS tradition. :-)

Synopsis: Kal-el Albus and his sister Ariel are preparing to attend the Flight Division of Cadaques Military High School, located on the floating island of Isla. Backed by the Balsteros Republic, the Kingdom of Qi, and the Benares Empire, the people aboard Isla will be embarking on a voyage to search for the fabled "End of the Sky." Over the course of this voyage, Kal-el forges new friendships with his fellow cadets and even falls in love with a young woman named Claire Cruz. But Kal-el has other reasons for being on Isla, for he is none other than Karl La Hire, the former crown prince of the Balsteros Empire who lost his family and title six years ago in the Wind Revolution led by the Wind Priestess, Nina Viento. Knowing that Nina Viento is aboard Isla, Kal-el prepares to exact his revenge upon her, but a surprise attack by the fierce Sky Clan puts this plan on hold. Though Kal-el and his fellow cadets take to the skies to fight for love, the horrors of war start to take their toll as true identities are revealed, loyalties are tested, and the bonds of love and friendship begin to waver.

This week, long time RACS regular Timothy writes in:
"Excellent customer service. I've never had a bad experience in more than a decade of buying from them. They will always get my anime and manga business."
He just hasn't caught us on a bad day.... -_^ LOL! Thank you very much Tim!
And we also heard from Nathaniel, who made the following note on his last order:
"I like these frames very much I currently have 02 "happy summer days," 04 "okinawan," 05 "cute on campus," 07 "goth polymer project," 09 "horror of macabre manor." I am trying to collect them all and I read in the news letter that an 11th special edition one is coming out in either this month or august and that only 500 are being made and this one is signed. I would very much so like to get that one or at the very least a frame I currently do not have. thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for creating these frames I am framing them and putting them on my walls in my game room in my house."
Thanks Nathaniel! We're glad your having fun collecting them! We'll make sure you have a full house before it's all over! :-)
Don't forget, this is the final weekend of our big
Funimation Anime sale
! Get what you need while these low prices last because we're not sure when (or if) we'll be able to do this again!
Robert's Random Thoughts
"Someone asked me once why we ever went into the Anime business if it's so hard, and the only reply I could give was that I had clearly lost my mind and fallen into my heart..."
