Store Stuff, News, and Tab Clearing
Just a heads up, we will be performing our annual pre-holiday physical inventory on Thursday Nov 5th and Friday Nov 6th (today). Orders will be shipping out as normal but there might be some delays in us getting back to you via e-mail during the periods when we are all over there counting stuff. We're trying to get this done by COB today so we don't have to come in over the weekend to finish it up - wish us luck!
I have a few product and schedule updates to relay this week.
Strap in.
First, Funimation let us know this week that the
Nobunagun Collection DVD/BD Combo Set (Limited Edition) is now sold out at wholesale so whatever we have left in our warehouse is it. I've been seeing a lot of this from Funimation recently, and I'll try to pass them on whenever I can get an official confirmation.
Viz has decided to pull their Holiday season release of the
Death Note DVD/BD and Death Note Omega Edition sets. Instead of streeting on Dec 1st, both versions will now be released on March 1st 2016. Viz did not offer any explanation for this so I have none to pass on. If you have either of these on pre-order and want to make a change, just
drop us a note.
Discotek has moved their release of the
Library War Complete DVD set back a couple of weeks to November 24th. Tis the season for release delays and reschedules, and I'll be sure to pass them along as we get them.
Next. Hang on a minute, I need a take a stiff drink before this one....
...OK, I'm ready.

Viz confirmed this week the that there is an audio syncing issue in episode 80 on disc 2 of its
Sailor Moon R Season 2 Set 2. This effects BOTH the DVD and BD disk versions. Viz said in their statement:
"We discovered an audio-visual issue with our recent release of SAILOR MOON Season 2 Set 2, located in episode 80, on disc #2 of both the Blu-ray/DVD combo and standard DVD editions. The issue does not affect the rest of the set. We, along with legions of SAILOR MOON fans, were excited to see the latest adventures of the Sailor Guardians. We are deeply sorry for the issue. We are working on a replacement solution for fans who have already purchased the set, and details will be announced as soon as possible."
Viz said it is working on a replacement solution, and will
announce details as soon as possible, which we will pass on to you. Viz's entire re-release of the SM franchise has been plagued with QC related issues from the start, and I sincerely hope they get it together and improve their processes to prevent future occurrences of these sorts of issues.

And finally, I saved the best for last! Sentai revealed the boxed set contents for the upcoming
Akame ga Kill Collectors Box #1 this week! This Limited Edition Premium box set will come with both Blu-ray and DVD versions of episodes 1-12, uncut and uncensored. Each disc will have its own unique disc art, featuring a member of the Night Raid team.
Limited Boxed Set Extra's Include:
Chipboard Box - The outer box is heavy chipboard that gives the set a nice, weighty feel. There is artwork on both sides, and the spine for Collection 1 and the upcoming Collection 2 create one whole image.
Limited Edition Poster - The included double sided poster is not available anywhere else and features the titular character, Akame, on one side. What's on the other side? You'll have to find out when you open your set!
Sticker and Tattoos - You may recognize a few of the tattoos included in the Collection 1 set. Esdeath's infamous chest tattoo is recreated, giving everyone who buys Akame ga Kill! a chance to live out their darker, colder sides. Other tattoos are included as well, representing symbols that make an appearance throughout the series.
Hardcover Collector Booklet - The included hardcover booklet contains 100+ pages full of Akame ga Kill! info, ranging from character specs and cast commentaries, to detailed explanations on the infamous Imperial Arms. Special Note: the booklet is faithfully recreated from the original Japanese booklets, which contains a number of black and white as well as full color pages.
Disc Extras include: Akame ga Kill! Theater, Tatsumi and Leone, 1 Minute Meals, Hot Springs, TV Shopping, Part 1, Glasses, Esdeath's Fun Class on Torture, Field Trip, The Tale of Estaro, Interview, DX Incursio, Girl's Bar, TV Shopping, Part 2
Just a heads up, I wanted to mention that this is the first Premium box from Sentai that they are labeling a 'Limited Edition'. I have talked to some of the higher ups down there and it has been mentioned that this will probably be the norm with their Premium sets going forward. Smaller batches will be pressed up front with the intention of selling them out in the market fairly quickly after release. The
Persona collectors box was sold out at wholesale by the street date, so I think going forward if you want one of their Premium sets it will be really important to
pre-order it to be 100% sure that we will have one reserved for you when they are ready to ship from Sentai.
RACS Chocolate Coins Are Back!
Some Anime stores like to spend their time and money on empty content, but we'd rather spend ours on substance, and now that the weather has started to turn a bit cooler, I'm happy to announced that the RACS Chocolate Coins are back - and this time better than ever!
Made from delicious imported Belgian milk chocolate and embossed with Noemi's cute profile, we will be including them with order shipments beginning this week. This years batch comes in three different foil colors - red, blue, and green, but instead of just a color variation, we've gone a step further with three different flavors as well:
RACS Red = Belgian Milk Chocolate
RACS Blue = Belgian Dark Milk Chocolate
RACS Green = Belgian Dark Mint Milk Chocolate
I just hope we can get these shipped out to you guys and gals before we eat them all. Yum! :-)

New License Announcements
None this week, except...
Viz Media announced on Wednesday that it has licensed Tamayo Akiyama's one-volume Zyword manga and Miki Kizuki's two-volume Eureka Seven: Gravity Boys & Lifting Girl manga. Both releases are license rescues (previously released by TokyoPop and Bandai) and the bad news is that they will be digital only, so I'm not sure why I decided to include them here.
Speaking of digital, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings stated in an interview with The New York Times on Tuesday that he is "hopeful" that Netflix will "make a great anime show." Hastings was elaborating on how his company will produce more unique programming from production companies around the world. Couple of things I would mention about this is that Netflix just launched in Japan back in September, so Asia is on their mind, and big media companies ALWAYS talk about Anime when they want to target the golden 18-30 male demographic. I doubt the smug Reed Hastings knows jack about Anime except what his marketing dept has told him in between the time he spends sitting in his office alone feeling good about how rich he is.
