Greetings!

As the Executive Director for The Guild of Artists and Artisans, I am emailing today to let you know that we have recently come to an agreement to take over the production of the South University section of the Ann Arbor Art Fair in 2021 and beyond. I know there has been much concern and confusion around this year’s event and although we would have liked to have been able to announce this sooner, things are just now being finalized. 

Just a few weeks ago, I was contacted by Maggie Ladd (former director of South University Area Association) and some of the businesses in the South University Area to ask The Guild, as the producers of the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair, to consider expanding our footprint into South University. The South University Area Association officially dissolved in December 2020, and although they plan to become an association again at some point in 2021, they will be doing so in a different capacity. I am happy to say that we recently finalized an agreement for The Guild of Artists & Artisans to expand the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair onto South University and produce this section of the fair through 2026. This change will help streamline the event from four fairs to three for the foreseeable future

I know that there will be a lot of questions regarding the change and we hope to answer many of those in this email. Moving forward we will do everything we can to respect the integrity and history of the Ann Arbor South University Fair while also incorporating some of the Guild’s structures. For example, we will no longer allow any vendor booths on South University. The Guild will honor the understanding between the Ann Arbor South University Fair and the 2020 artists that were juried in and left a $100 deposit with South University. These artists will only need to pay the remaining balance of their booth fee for participation in the 2021 fair. Not sure if you left a deposit? We have a list of those artists and we will be reaching out to you in the next few days to discuss how you would like to proceed for this year. For those artists that did not choose to rollover a deposit and wish to have a space in the South University section of the fair, please apply to the Guild’s Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair show on Zapplication and we will give you the option for a booth in that section if/when we send you a contract.
