As we enter the summer on the Bay, we wanted to give you an overview of our past year.
We had a wonderful evening with Dr. John Lennox, who shared some world-class teaching on "Why Am I Here?" Over 120 friends of the Institute enjoyed the talk along with some dessert and coffee, and the event was met with some rave reviews. We truly appreciate Dr. Lennox visiting us from Oxford and wish him all the best with his newest book, "Can Science Explain Everything?"
Our 2018-19 Fellows year just a few days ago, culminating in a wonderful celebration picnic. We had 18 Fellows complete the Year 1 curriculum and 12 completed Year 2. The Fellows program is the Institute's flagship, year-long discipleship study that helps believers experience true heart and mind transformation. We have seen much growth through the years, with Fellows finding that they are called by God "unto something" through this program. Stay tuned to this newsletter in the coming months about our 2020-21 Fellows program.
Our next class of Fellows (2019-20) began reading and reflecting on their Year 2 program this month as well. We have a robust cohort of 16 Fellows, many of whom just completed Year 1 and others who have previously gone through the program. We are keeping each of these Fellows in our prayers as they seek to become even more committed followers of Jesus.
Speaking of culmination, our College Associates and fellowships recently concluded their meetings as well. It was such a blessing to walk alongside this next generation of followers, which may well include another Wesley or Wilberforce. We pray that those graduating will take their relationships and faith into a world desperately in need of a guiding light.
This is also a time of transition, as the operational responsibilities of the Institute in Annapolis fall on new shoulders. Jim and Ann are preparing to head off to Oxford (yes, the same one as Dr. Lennox in England!) as he pursues post-graduate studies. Jim and Ann have
been CSLI Annapolis for the past decade and we send them across the pond with our prayers for peace and prosperity. We know that God has begun a great work in both of them and will bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6).
With that in mind, please be in prayer for us (Rob and Mary Beth Shepherd) as we seek to continue to engage in God's work in God's way. "And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." (Galatians 6:9)
