AACoFD Fire/Arson & Explosives Investigators charged a man in Pasadena with Manufacturing and Using a Destructive Device

On December 11, 2024 at approximately 2:30pm, units from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded to 713 Ordnance Road, Glen Burnie, Maryland for the report of a possible explosion. The incident location is a commercial/industrial business park. Initial responding fire department units arrived on scene and observed what they recognized to be debris resulting from an explosion. Fire Department units were able to quickly conclude that no injuries or structural damage had occurred, allowing for investigators from the Fire & Explosives Investigation Unit (FEIU) to take over the scene. 


Through their scene examination, canvassing of CCTV footage and interviews with witnesses, investigators were able to quickly identify a person of interest. 


Once the person of interest was developed, a search warrant was applied for and executed at 7747 Rockanna Rd Pasadena, MD 21122. During the execution of the search warrant, Greg Smith was taken into custody without incident.  


On December 11, 2024 Anne Arundel county Fire, Arson and Explosives Investigators charged Greg Smith of Pasadena, Maryland, with numerous criminal charges including manufacturing, possessing and using a destructive device.  


The defendant is currently being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center.  


The quick and positive resolution of this incident incorporated the teamwork of several agencies to include: The Anne Arundel County Police Department, Annapolis City Fire Department Bomb Squad, Baltimore County Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, ATF.
