Dear Sullivan Families,
We are looking forward to parent-teacher conferences on the next two Thursdays. While you receive regular communication from your child's teacher through SeeSaw, conferences are an important opportunity to have a two-way conversation about your child's strengths and opportunities for growth.
Our students have been working on completing their Personalized Learner Profile (PLP) goal statements and personal statements in anticipation of the conferences. The PLP is a snapshot of the whole child, and includes information about their career aspirations, personal and school goals, and school and outside activities in addition to their grades and attendance. Teachers and students will share these PLPs with families in the upcoming weeks. We look forward to seeing you either in person or virtually at conferences! If you have not yet signed up for a conference time, the link is in this newsletter.
Have a wonderful weekend, and stay warm!
Best,
Traci Meziere

Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather. Elementary students have outdoor recess whenever possible. Students perform better when they get outdoors, even if only for a few minutes. We follow the recess guidelines below:
- Outdoor Recess: 10 degrees F and higher (including wind chill)
- Inside Recess: below 10 degrees F (including wind chill)
When the weather is snowy, students must have boots, gloves, and snow pants to play in the snow. Those who don’t must stay on the blacktop area. Parents should assist children in preparing and wearing appropriate clothing for the weather conditions.

5th graders in Mrs. Pennell’s class have been learning about how the first clock was set. Students created their own shadow clock. They figured out how the clock worked using a flashlight and then put their knowledge to the test outside on a sunny but VERY cold day. Mrs. Pennell’s class is also enjoying working in groups to study the novel, Peak, by Roland Smith. We cannot wait to finish the book to find out if Peak will make it to the summit of Mt. Everest.

Sullivan students got into the Olympic spirit this week in PE! Students competed in events including the bobsled, luge, and biathlon.
The students in each class are divided into teams and compete as a grade level. Which country's team will win the medal?

We're excited about our upcoming Valentine's Day parties and appreciate the help of our PTO Room Parents in organizing the events. Valentines will be permitted the day of the event but they may not include any food or candy. We can't wait to see the engaging crafts and games planned for our students during the events!
Save the date to join the fourth PTO General Meeting of the year on Thursday, March 17th at 7 pm via ZOOM. A ZOOM link will be sent out on the D23 Facebook page, the PTO e-blast, and in the principals' newsletters closer to the meeting. All are welcome and encouraged to join us. Hope to see you there!

My child is vaccinated...Now WHAT?
Students who are in close contact with a COVID positive individual 14 DAYS PAST their 2nd Dose do NOT have to quarantine if they are asymptomatic.
We are asking parents to share their child's vaccination card directly with the school nurse so that we can begin to track vaccination status and continue to limit the number of exclusions.
Copies of vaccination cards can be emailed directly to the school nurse or sent to school with your student.
