AINNIE GOODWIN RISING STAR

2023 $20,000 Grant is now open!

Friday, July, 14th, 2023

The Aiken Horse Park Foundation Board of Directors is delighted to announce that the Annie Goodwin Rising Star Grant has been approved by the IRS and is now open to applicants. Putter Goodwin requested that we make this announcement today, as it is the second anniversary of his daughter Anne Field Goodwin's untimely passing. Annie died doing what she loved, training her horses in preparation for high level competition. She was a rising star in the sport of eventing, and was truly dedicated to her sport. The Annie Goodwin Rising Star Grant has been established to foster, support, and develop young equestrians who embody Annie's character and dedication in their respective sports.

GRANT APPLICATION

Annie's parents, Tina and Putter played an integral role in the development of the grant application. They spent numerous hours side by side our staff, crafting a meaningful application that was representative of Annie's spirit and ambition. It is their desire that this grant provide eligible young professionals a leg up to establish a successful and sustainable business in their sport. Sadly Tina did not live long enough to witness the fruition of her work...

While we take this time today to remember Annie, we also pause to reflect and celebrate the life of her mother Tina McLanahan Goodwin who passed away on May 22, 2023. Thirty-five years of Rheumatoid Arthritis, fusions, surgeries and other health issues finally took its toll. She had a brilliant mind, a follower of science, respecter and lover of all animals, gardener, swimmer and sailor. In her prime, she rode fast, ran fast, skied the steep and climbed the tall. Tina was a devoted Mom, wife, sister, aunt and the best friend you could ever ask for. She is dearly missed by all that knew her.

Tina would be so happy to know that we are sharing the news today that the Annie Goodwin Rising Star Grant is now open to applicants. Let's all smile for Annie and Tina and take comfort in knowing that they have been reunited.
