NEWS & NOTES FROM ANNIE MALONE |JUNE 2019
Annie Malone Investing in Our Future; $500k Renovation Project Will Enhance Facilities
Bids are coming in for more than $500,000 in renovation projects as Annie Malone begins "building for the future." Construction work is expected to begin in July and be completed by the end of the year. Board President Cozy Marks, III said maximizing minority and women participation on the project is a priority.

"All of the contractors that showed up for our pre-bid meeting were minority and women firms," Marks said. "We have an important role to play in giving back to the community and this is just another way to do that."

The Board of Directors recently approved $500k in construction projects designed to provide critical improvements to both the residential facilities and the administration building and stabilize the old Homer G. Philips Nurse's building. The nurse's building is being prepared for a new initiative providing one-stop supportive services to families.

Thanks ARCHS, State for Supporting Families

Responding to a critical community need, Annie Malone created a pilot program to support families, especially those working to reunite with children who had been removed from the home. The program has been very successful and we recently learned that our program is no longer considered a pilot by the State of Missouri. Our p arenting program, supported by ARCHS, is a free, community-based program providing instruction to re-establish and promote healthy, nurturing
relationships between parents and children. The course is designed to help prevent child abuse, improve communication skills and successfully raise and appropriately discipline children. We also provide case management services with two full-time parent advocates.
