October 25th is our 21st Anniversary !

We're celebrating with some exciting recent/upcoming releases, and a tranche of out-of-print / unavailable titles recently discovered in a warehouse overseas, again available to you...

Our very sold out book/CD, 'Treasures Untold : A Modern 78 RPM Reader' is available on our bandcamp page again - about 20 copies. The CD inside this hardcover book has exclusive tracks by Gwenifer Raymond, Michael Hurley, Kevin Barker, William Tyler, R.Crumb, etc. that are not available digitally or anywhere else. (This book makes an amazing gift, and Henry Rollins loves it...)

We're excited to have these two private press gems by guitarist Russell Potter available again !

A Stone's Throw (1979)

Neither Here Nor There (1981)

"Two excellent and obscure guitar soli LPs from the late 1970s and early 1980s. Russell Potter showed up a few years ago on the mind-bending Imaginational Anthem: The Private Press, and it’s great to hear more from his fertile imagination. On this pair of albums, Potter proves himself to be an extremely versatile player — there’s 12-string mysticism a la Basho, warm Kottke-ish moments, glances across the pond at Renbourn and Jansch … Whatever he gets up to, there’s always a sense of playfulness and a lightness of touch."

- Tyler Wilcox (Doom & Gloom / Aquarium Drunkard)

No Other Love - Midwest Gospel, 1965-1978 :: Rescued about 30 LP copies and they are on bandcamp.

This collection of rare black gospel from the Midwest—featuring church congregations, basement recordings sessions, family bands and children’s choirs—is drawn together by two threads. The first—hope—which holds fast and unchanging, even in the most trying of circumstances. The second—circumstance—the way these recordings fell into the hands of producer Ramona Stout, in Chicago...

A last shot of about 25 copies of this 5CD Robbie Basho box set - all live recordings.

We just announced the November 6th release of Jelly Roll Morton - New Orleans Joys : The Earliest Recordings, 1923-1926. A deluxe 2CD set with 80 page booklet, all 53 tracks expertly transferred from the original 78rpm records. This is the best sound presentation of this material ever released - by far - from this 20th century jazz innovator and Rock And Rock Hall of Famer .... Essential for your collection. Also makes a classy and perfect holiday gift !

Greil Marcus - Real Life Top 10 pick

“This is 1925 in a nutshell : according to this lively set - co-curated by the musicologist Dick Spottswood - that year marked great advances in recording technology just as popular genres were beginning to settle into place.”

8/10 - UNCUT

“There’s skillful jazz from all over - big bands, washboard bands, jug bands, bar bands - as well as gospel, fiddle and banjo, and fascinating blues.” - MOJO

"All too often, compilations from this era are dismissed with the faint praise of being merely interesting, but this one is consistently entertaining too.” - Songlines

Based in Bacup, UK, Thorn Wych makes instruments from tree branches; bowed strings, flutes and percussion that she runs through a chain of loopers, pitch bending glitches and delay pedals. Strange songs sung in tongues, mashed up chewed and spat out. As the adder weaves her way through the dirt and mycelium hum, we play in the mud and converse with insects.

Aesthesis is Thorn Wych's debut LP that she recorded and mixed herself at home, often performing long improvised pieces, then later editing them down, cutting and pasting and overlaying other instruments.

Burning up the charts at WFMU and multiple BBC shows !
