It is with mixed emotions that I announce that Dr. Greg Rutledge will be leaving the position of Deputy Chief of Staff, and Chief of Emergency Medicine, at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton to become Chief of Staff at William Osler Health System. His final day at St. Joe’s is July 7.
Greg is an accomplished leader and physician who has excelled at every role he has taken on at St. Joe’s. Greg joined St. Joe’s as an Emergency Medicine Physician in 2009, and became Chief of Emergency Medicine in 2018, where he has led the ED team through the pandemic with courage and innovation. St. Joe’s became a provincial leader in Virtual Emergency Department/Urgent Care for adults with Greg’s leadership and support. He expanded his pandemic leadership role beyond St. Joe’s as Regional Lead Emergency Medicine, Ontario Health West.
In January 2022, Greg accepted the additional role of Deputy Chief of Staff and Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee, joining the Executive Leadership Team of St. Joe’s.
Greg has led with skill, humour and vulnerability, showing compassion not only for his patients, but for his teams and his colleagues.
