Project
Hope Announcement:
New
Internet Cafe & Internet Program!
|
|
Greetings!
Project Hope
is excited to announce the opening both of a new
Internet Cafe and an Internet
Program for Palestinian children and youth in Nablus.
Based out of our premises at the Project Hope office near to the
Old City, the new Bridge to the World (B2W) Net Cafe will
allow free and regular computer access to students who are
typically from low income areas with little access to the Internet.
Simultaneously we will be starting a new Bridge to the World
(B2W) Net Program which will provide students with regular
classes on computer and Internet technology.
|
|
B2W
Net Cafe
The Net
Cafe will be a hub of learning used to run our Net Program and as a
drop-in center where Palestinian youth can have access to computers
and the Internet. It will ensure that young women have access to
computers through designated times for their use only, as an
alternative to the male dominated private net cafes in Nablus that
are often of limits to women and girls. It will be a place where
youth of both sexes can do their homework, conduct research, read
the news, use email, voice their opinions, apply for jobs and
update their resumes.

Students
Learning in the B2W Net Cafe |
B2W
Net Program
The Net
Program will provide Palestinians from disadvantaged backgrounds
with training and access to computers for their educational
advancement, professional development and to foster both local
community education and international communication. It will
provide students with the tools necessary to develop and utilize
communication and technology skills. It represents an exciting step
forwards in our ability to support local youth.

computers from two different donors, Kerk in Actie
in the Netherlands and the New Zealand Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.

Computer
access and learning provides at-risk youth with a better chance at
future employment.

A
PROFILE OF ONE OR OUR DONORS
The
IDRF (International Development
and Relief Foundation) is a registered Canadian non-profit
organization, dedicated to empowering the disadvantaged people of
the world through emergency relief and participatory development
programs based on the Islamic principles of human dignity,
self-reliance and social justice.
Its projects are
particularly effective as local partners implement them, and
therefore they are culturally sensitive, provide targeted
assistance, and create the foundation for long-term
sustainability.
For over 25 years, IDRF
has successfully implemented relief and development projects in
Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and the Americas.
IDRF has long benefited from the financial support and guidance of
CIDA (Canadian International Development
Agency).
Project
Hope is pleased to announce having support for the first time from
the IDRF for the implementation of the B2W Net Program, with all
the benefits this will have for young people in Nablus.
