Announcement of NY PATA Executive Director | |
Dear Colleagues,
As approved during our board meeting last 12 July 2022, we are proud to announce that Elizabeth Chin has been appointed Executive Director of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) New York Chapter, a position vacated by Simone Bassous who retired in December 2021. Simone remains to be an honorary lifetime member of PATA New York Chapter.
PATA New York Chapter is dedicated to facilitating meaningful partnerships to enhance the value, quality and sustainable growth of travel and tourism to and from countries in APAC, Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
Elizabeth has more than 35 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry. She is the immediate past Chairwoman of NY PATA and served from 2016 to 2022. She is also an honorary lifetime member for her significant leadership and invaluable dedication to the Chapter.
We thank you all for your continued support and please join us in welcoming Elizabeth into her new role. We continue growing stronger together.

Korea
Starting July 25, quarantine process for international travelers will be strengthened. Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Korea, all international travelers must receive a PCR Test within 1 day after arrival (by 23:59 on the next day). The previous 3-day leeway has been shortened to 1 day. Travelers must stay in their accommodations until they receive a negative PCR Test result. Thailand
The new, compulsory, arrival fee of 300 baht will apply to ALL foreigners, “without exception” and will provide insurance coverage with a value of 500,000 baht for each person, up to 30 days, during their stay in Thailand. For air passengers, it will be included in their airfare.

Kazakhstan
#Kazakhstan introduced Sunday a visa-free entry regime for citizens of #China, #India and #Iran, which will allow citizens of these countries a continuous visa-free stay in Kazakhstan for up to 14 days, to further foster a favorable environment for investment and boost tourism.

Philippine International Dive Expo (PHIDEX) 2022
The Philippines is now ready to welcome scuba divers and dive enthusiasts from all over the globe.
The Department of Tourism will once again hold the Philippine International Dive Expo (PHIDEX) 2022 on August 19 to 21, 2022, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila. The three-day hybrid event will gather local and international dive industry experts, dive tour operators, and partner dive businesses to share their ideas and experiences. Exhibition booths will also showcase dive resorts and centers in different destinations, as well as top-rated dive gear and equipment.

Nepal
#Pashupatinath Temple is visited by thousands of pilgrims during the month of #Shrawan . As per Hindu epics it was during the month of Shrawan during Samundra Manthan that Lord Shiva drank the infamous Kalkut Beesh to save the entire creation from it and plunging himself in eternal agony. Indonesia
Indonesia is home to more than 17,000 islands.
