Announcement: Greenbelt Trailhead Improvements

Beginning: September 21, 2026 - Whitemarsh Valley Walk, near Ben Crenshaw

The Lost Creek Limited District Board of Directors is excited to announce the approval and commencement of a major capital improvement project – complete reconstruction of all five stairway access points to the Lost Creek Greenbelt.

Maintaining community parks and greenbelts in Lost Creek is one of the core functions of the Limited District. The Board committed several years ago to address the access and safety concerns of the original limestone staircases. Through careful stewardship of your tax dollars and a years-long planning process, the Board is proud to finally be able to fund this transformative project and deliver for this community.

The new trailheads will feature:

  • Attractive and usable stone steps with handrails
  • Native plants – used extensively to enhance beauty and prevent excessive erosion

The project will involve the demolition and reconstruction of new trailheads at all five entrances to the interior Greenbelt:

  • Site 1 – both sides of the Whitemarsh Valley Walk crossing near Ben Crenshaw
  • Site 2 – both sides of the Augusta National crossing
  • Site 3 – Whitemarsh Valley Walk, near Indian Canyon

Work will begin at Site 1 as soon as Monday, September 21, with a completion time maximum of 90 days. Work at Site 2 and Site 3 will follow, with a total completion time of 150 days.

Every effort will be made to minimize the extent and duration of trail closures, but some closures will be necessary for everyone's safety.

The District will send out updates as necessary. Please direct any questions to the General Manager, Jim Emmons, at 512 327 6243.
