More Maine Clambake Mysteries to Come!
I'm thrilled to announce that I've signed a contract with Kensington for Maine Clambake Mysteries 10, 11 and 12! It's exciting to be able to continue the story of Julia and the Snowden Family Clambake.

What are the new books about? I have only the haziest notion and nothing has been approved by my editor.

I'm also on the hunt for titles. Feel free to reply to this email with suggestions. Remember, past tense verb + preposition (or a word with preposition-like qualities). Something Maine-y. You can find the book titles and the prepositions I've already used here. If your suggestion gets used, I'll include you in that book's acknowledgements.

Meanwhile, if you're eager for more Maine Clambake Mysteries, number 9, Shucked Apart, is available for pre-order. It will be released on February 23, 2021 in Kensington's new, slightly larger, more readable mass max market size, and in ebook editions from the usual retailers .
Have You Read The Death of an Ambitious Woman ?
The Death of an Ambitious Woman is my first mystery novel, originally published in 2010.

I recently received the ebook rights back and have re-released the book exclusively for Kindle for $2.99. (It is also available for Kindle Unlimited.)

Here's the blurb.

When is the cost of a dream too high? In The Death of an Ambitious Woman, the murder of one ambitious woman forces another to decide what price she is willing to pay for success.

Acting Police Chief Ruth Murphy has just made the final cut in the selection process for permanent chief of police in New Derby, Massachusetts, when Tracey Kendall slams her luxury SUV into a scenic New England stonewall. Then the handsome mechanic who worked on Tracey’s car disappears and a world of suspects opens up, including Tracey’s unfaithful artist husband, her greedy business partner, a jealous best friend, and the husband’s desperate art dealer.

I reread the book while preparing the manuscript for re-release and did some light updating. (In 2010, I assumed everyone would have a landline.) I thought the book held up pretty well! You can judge for yourself.

The Death of an Ambitious Woman for Kindle is available from Amazon.

Edith Maxwell, my friend and blogmate at Wicked Authors, has two new books out this month.

As Edith Maxwell she has released Taken Too Soon, the sixth book in her Quaker Midwife series, set in 1880s Amesbury, Massachusetts.

As Maddie Day she brings us Candy Slain Murder, the eighth book in her contemporary Country Store Mystery series, which take place in southern Indiana.

Fall is my favorite time of year in New England. However, this year we will be spending October in Virginia. We've rented a house on a lake near my son's home, where we'll be attempting to help with the whole work-remote school-school situation that is so much a feature of 2020. Wish us luck!

As always, I love to hear from readers. You can write to barbaraross@maineclambakemysteries.com, or find me on the Wicked Authors blog, on my website, or on social media: Twitter, Facebook, Goodreads, BookBub, Pinterest, Instagram

I hope reading good books is helping you through these trying times. The best part of 2020 for us has been the arrival of the cutie front left in the photo above.
