SENATOR RUFF ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN FOR RE-ELECTION FOR THE VIRGINIA SENATE

"One of the great honors of my life has been to represent Southern Virginia in the General Assembly. I am proud of what we, as a team, have accomplished on job creation, workforce development, and countless other initiatives."

"It is truly an honor to have worked with and to have the support of so many elected officials from Danville and Pittsylvania County for my campaign."

"Four years ago, you gave me a contract to represent you in the State Senate. I thank you for that and I believe that my votes reflect the values that you sent me to Richmond to represent.

I have consistently voted to protect the gun rights as stated in our federal constitution.

I have voted consistently to protect the rights of the unborn.

In my role in the Senate and on the Tobacco Commission, I have worked to make Southern Virginia a better place to work and raise a family. This includes supporting education at every level from early childhood to training doctors in the medical field. My greatest pride, however,
has been to focus better and faster workforce skills for jobs that are available right now in the region. This includes working with any potential job creators and assisting local economic developers in these efforts.

I have stood up for the farming community. First with compensation for lost tobacco quota, now with looking for new crops such as hemp.

As a veteran myself, and the father of a Navy veteran, I understand the issues surrounding our veterans and have worked as an advocate for them.

We live in a wonderful part of Virginia. For forty years, I have worked to protect the Roanoke River water basin as it flows through much of Southern Virginia. I will continue to fight those who would do anything to pollute or damage that wonderful asset.

As a former member of the Mecklenburg County Board of Supervisors, I understand the challenges that everyone in local government in rural communities face.

My role as Chairman of the Major Economic Initiative (MEI) Commission also requires me to help all parts of Virginia. In the course of the last year, we have approved great projects around the state from Tidewater to Southwest Virginia, from Northern Virginia to Mecklenburg. We stand ready to assist any good job opportunities and especially to assist rural communities like ours around the state.

My experience in the legislature has earned me the respect of others in the General Assembly. This year I was trusted to carry the legislation for Amazon, - the largest economic project in Virginia's history, legislation for the training of a higher level of technology training known as the Tech Talent Pipeline, and, at the request of the Retail Merchants Association, legislation to level the playing field for local merchants.

My work has been recognized statewide having received awards for my service to the manufacturing community, for leadership on workforce training, and for service to the business community. I believe my experience as the founder and operator of two businesses, having to make payroll and living with budgets has made me a better legislator and, in turn, made me a stronger force in writing the state budget.

On June 11th, the voters of Virginia of the 15th District can choose to allow me to continue to work on their behalf in Richmond or not. I believe my experience and my votes make a stronger case for another term than any promises of someone without experience.

ENDORSEMENTS

Danny Marshall - Virginia House of Delegates (14th District)
"I fully support Senator Frank Ruff because of one simple, but very important reason: RESULTS. Senator Ruff gets things done for our part of Virginia and for the entire Commonwealth. As a member of the Senate Finance Committee and a Budget conferee, Frank is at the table when the House and Senate are working out budget differences. Frank is Vice Chair of the Virginia Tobacco Commission, as well as serving in other capacities on the Commission: Chair of the Education Committee, a member of the Executive Committee, a member of the Southside Economic Development Committee and the Research and Development Committee. In the Virginia Senate he chairs the General Laws Committee and serves on four more committees. He also serves on many commissions. All these positions have been earned. They indicate hard work, knowledge and leadership. He works tirelessly for our region. Frank Ruff is a great public servant and a true Virginia gentleman."

Les Adams - Virginia House of Delegates (16th District)
"Senator Ruff's leadership in the Virginia Senate and his importance to Southside Virginia is hard to overstate. In a state legislature where seniority is a valued status that can only be earned from the people, Senator Ruff has effectively served our interests as a statesman for this region. Senator Ruff has also been a strong voice for conservative values such as protecting the Second Amendment and the rights of the unborn. I wholeheartedly endorse his campaign for reelection."

Will Pace - Mayor of Chatham & Chairman of the Pittsylvania County Republican Committee
"I am honored to support my friend Frank Ruff for the Republican nomination in the 15th Senate District. I am constantly amazed with Senator Ruff's work ethic and genuine desire to help his constituents. Senator Ruff's re-election will ensure there will be a voice for our region and its diverse needs. As a senator, Frank Ruff has instituted workforce development initiatives, worked to expand broadband services in rural areas, advocated for the right for farmers to grow commercial hemp, and helped shepherd funding for an alternative study to fix Cherrystone and Roaring Fork Dams, to name a few. We need Frank Ruff back in the Senate. Senator Ruff is a Champion for Southside Virginia!"

Lee Vogler - Vice Mayor of Danville
"Senator Ruff has worked hard for our region for many years. In my role as Vice Mayor, it's important to have a good relationship with our representatives in Richmond. I can say with great certainty that is the case with Senator Ruff. I can always reach out to him about an issue of importance to our region, and count on him to get things done for Southside. He is highly respected by other members of the General Assembly and that is a great benefit to our region. Our region will be well-served if Frank Ruff is re-elected this year."

Bryan Haskins - Pittsylvania County Commonwealth's Attorney
"In his years of public service, Frank Ruff has always proven himself to be a friend of law enforcement. This past session is no exception. This year Frank supported legislation that would allow drug dealers to be held accountable for profiting by selling deadly drugs that caused a death. As a prosecutor, I cannot thank Frank enough for recognizing the problems presented by our opioid crisis, and for being willing to support a law to help prosecutors combat it. This is just one example of Frank's proven leadership. I support Frank because he is the kind of leader we need to keep in Richmond. Please join me in fighting to keep Frank in Richmond where I know he will keep fighting for us."

H.F. Haymore - Retired Pittsylvania County Clerk of Court (1984-2015)
"I am honored to endorse wholeheartedly the re-election of State Senator Frank Ruff. First and foremost, Senator Ruff has served well the citizens of Danville and Pittsylvania County during his more than 18 years in the Virginia State Senate. In addition, Senator Ruff is a key member of the Senate Finance Committee, where he chairs the Economic Development Subcommittee, and Vice Chairman of the Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission. These two appointments only come with the seniority that Senator Ruff brings to the office he holds and, without a doubt, his work on both entities has been an invaluable asset to Southside Virginia. In my opinion, we need Senator Ruff's continued experience and leadership working for the region, and it is my honor to endorse his re-election."

Robert Hurt - Former Member of the U.S. House of Representatives (Fifth Congressional District), Former Member of the Senate of Virginia and Former Member of the Virginia House of Delegates
"I am honored to support my friend and former colleague Frank Ruff for the Republican nomination for State Senate. As a small business owner, Frank knows that small businesses need tax and regulatory relief. Frank has supported legislation to support tax relief for small businesses and households. Frank also understands that we need workforce programs aligned with the needs of the marketplace, and has sponsored legislation to improve workforce programs. I am proud to support Frank's campaign for re-election for the State Senate."
