Dear SMIF,

After thoughtful reflection and with immense gratitude, I am writing to share that I will be retiring from my role as president and CEO of Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF). I will remain in my role for the next few months as a successor is selected and will assist in the transition to new leadership.

It has been an incredible privilege to serve this organization for nearly 18 years, working alongside dedicated colleagues and partners to advance SMIF’s mission of fostering economic growth, early childhood development and community vitality throughout southern Minnesota.

Together, we have supported countless businesses, children, communities and individuals, all with the shared goal of building a stronger, more prosperous region.

Leading SMIF has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to contribute to the vibrant communities we serve. While I will be stepping down from the day-to-day leadership, I am pleased to share that I will remain connected to the Foundation as an ambassador, trusted advisor and friend, continuing to offer my insights and support in whatever ways I can.

In the coming weeks, the Board of Trustees will be working with a search firm to identify a new president and CEO—someone who shares the values of this incredible organization and who can continue to build on our successes. I am confident the Board will find a leader who will carry SMIF’s mission forward, helping to create even more opportunities for prosperity in southern Minnesota.

As I embark on this new chapter, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the relationships I’ve built and the support I’ve received over the years. I have been truly inspired by the passion and commitment of everyone connected to SMIF, and I know the Foundation’s best years are still ahead.
