The purpose of the Infrastructure Share is to promote capital improvements and provide operational assistance for developing and improving the infrastructure necessary to abate the opioid crisis in Colorado. The Infrastructure Share is further intended to meet the needs of rural and underserved populations.
The Infrastructure Share represents 10% of all opioid settlement funds received by Colorado. These resources, managed by the Colorado Opioid Abatement Council (COAC), are strategically invested in infrastructure-related projects across Colorado to combat the opioid crisis and supplement other settlement funds received by communities across Colorado.
As a reminder, 60% of the opioid settlement funds are allocated directly to the 19 Colorado Opioid Regions ("Regional Share"), 20% to participating local governments ("Local Government Share"), 10% to the state ("State Share"), and 10% for infrastructure ("Infrastructure Share"). See diagram below.
