Youth Leader Event
at Princeton
The Forum on Youth Ministry is
an event for Christian leaders who work with young people.
At the Forum we gather thought leaders, pastors, and scholars together on the campus of Princeton Theological Seminary for four days to provide lectures, seminars, and worship that feeds our work in youth ministry, and creates space for ministry leaders to network, rest, and learn.

Welcome to Collette Lynner, the new Office Manager for the Presbytery!
Collette is a member of the Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos and comes to us from CIC Ministries, a non-profit organization which provides chaplaincy services to the Santa Clara County Jails.
Collette is a Navy veteran who focused on Korean language studies during her time in the military. She also has an extensive background in marketing, information technology, management, for-profit, and non-profit enterprises.
When you get a chance, say "hi" and introduce yourself. We are so excited to welcome her to the Presbytery staff!

Stone Church will be presenting a speaker from the ISLAMIC NETWORKS GROUP (ING) on the subject of Muslim women stereotypes and the teachings of the Quran. The event will be held in the sanctuary at Stone Church from

Lenten Reflection
Growing up in a non-denominational church, I was never exposed to the practice of Lent. The Church calendar which revolves around Advent, Lent, and the Easter season is a relatively new structure for me.
My first experience of Lent was of after-work libations with law firm co-workers on "Fat Tuesday" with no clue how Fat Tuesday and Lent were intertwined. Then, I started to notice coworkers coming back from lunch with what looked like toner smudges on their foreheads on "Ash Wednesday." As I became involved with 1st Presbyterian Church of Milpitas and the Presbytery, I gradually learned what Lent was about and how it fits into our spiritual practices. Now, Easter doesn't make sense without it.
I think the Lenten season helps keep us grounded and serves as a reminder that we are not entitled to abundance; that the Christian life also includes sacrifice. And as Lenten practices include "good works," it is also a reminder that there is suffering around me already that I have a responsibility in my privilege to address.
So, as we are in this season of reflection, may humility be fostered within us. And as we look around and see the needs in our neighbors and community, may we be prompted to reach out, as Christ sacrificially extended his embrace to us.
