Dear members, supporters, and volunteers,

I wanted to reach out to you today and thank you for all you have done for Operation Support Our Troops-America. I have enjoyed working with each of you and am very proud of all we have accomplished. I have been thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the organization that Deb and I founded out of our garage in 2003. Never did we imagine it would grow to the top-notch charity it is today.

I would like to introduce you to Scott Maxson who will be stepping in as the new Executive Director of OSOT-America. Scott has been very involved as a board member and he took on the challenging role of the committee chairman of our successful Over The Edge event in 2019. If you haven't met him yet, please introduce yourself. I have the utmost confidence in Scott and I am leaving you in very good hands. Scott previously served on the Board of Directors in 2018 and 2019. His background showcases a range of experience and skills, from program management, physical security and risk management, learning and development, various leadership roles and organization and planning. He served as Chair of the veterans related employee resource group at his last company and has received multiple awards from The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). He is an Army veteran having served as an armor crewman, company armorer and was an honor graduate of the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defense School while based at Fort Benning, GA. His corporate and military experience will translate into a deep level of understanding to lead an organization that supports military members, veterans, and their families. Scott holds a BS in Commerce from DePaul University, Chicago and an MBA from the University of Illinois - Chicago. The Board of Directors is excited to have Scott as our Executive Director and his leadership as we continue providing comfort and care to our military families at home and away. Scott can be reached at smaxson@osotamerica.org or 630-971-1150 .

Welcome Scott!

Our mission of supporting our active duty military, their families, our veterans and families of the fallen continues. I wish each of you safe and healthy weeks ahead as we come together as a country to combat this pandemic. God bless each of you and God bless The United States of America.

Thank you for all your support.

Due to the Governor of Illinois' Stay At Home order through April 30th our staff will be working remotely. Many people have reached out to us asking how they can help from home so we wanted to share some thoughts on what we need.
While we are currently not packing boxes for deployed troops, the requests continue to come in at a rapid pace and once the warehouse reopens we will be very busy very quickly!

Here are a few ideas of how you can help:

  • Kids can write letters, draw pictures and make cards for our Comfort and Care Packages. This is an item that troops are always appreciative of because they feel supported by the patriotic community. CLICK HERE for more information.
  • Feeling crafty? We need volunteer help to make ornaments and stockings (we have patterns available) for our Christmas Stocking Program that starts this fall.
  • Make fabric masks for the medical community as an extra level of protection and for those trying to avoid spreading germs if they are already sick. CLICK HERE for more information. Note: the fabric masks DO NOT protect against COVID-19 but instead are intended for general health or for medical staff to use underneath their disposable masks due to the shortage of supplies.
  • Make paracord bracelets for our troops, CLICK HERE for a video tutorial.
  • Like to knit? Knit hats and scarves for our troops to give them a comfort from home that we can add to the Comfort and Care Packages.

Call us at 630-971-1150 or email us at info@osotamerica.org with any questions or ideas of other ways you can contribute!
Please consider donating financially to help us continue our programs.
Dear Bill,
Don't know if you remember my youngest Carlos he was on the big screen for Rockin' and would come sometimes with me to the warehouse. He has signed up for the Marines as soon as he graduates high school the end of May. I know I will be needing the support of OSOT to help me get through the next 4 years and it was comforting that you had taken over for Deb. Had it not been for OSOT I would not have made it through Christopher's three deployments. I wish you all the best in the next chapter. Say hi to Deb for me and take care.
Hugs to both of you.
Le Ellyn Mendez-Tovar
Over the years Le Ellyn and her family have donated 2,227 pounds of comfort and care items! What a difference one family can make! Thank you Le Ellyn!!
Dear  Operation Support Our Troops-America ,
Thank you for your care packages. It keeps us aware that the is a world outside the T-walls of this camp that knows we're not home. The packages bring people together and conversations, mood booster, items that are needed.
No one is ever upset to open one of these things and to be honest everyone is usually calling dibs/fights over opening the packages first because everyone knows you guy send the best stuff.
I know this sounds routine but Than you for your support!
