“The Care and Feeding of Demons”
We have all probably thought about the concept of Hell and the demons lurking there - and here - causing all kinds of problems for us. But is there a Hell? What if the demons lurking in our lives weren't sent by Satan at all? If there are demons, where do they come from? And how do we care for them since they seem to live with us everyday?

Speaker: Bonnie Phinney
Celebrant: Sandi Phinney York

“Living Until We Die: Finding Joy In Our Brief Lives”

“Joy: An Inside Job”

Joy: wouldn't we all like to live there! The Dalai Lama lost his country -- and became a refugee and international inspiration. Bishop Desmond Tutu lived through apartheid in S. Africa -- and became part of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. They say we CAN live there. Both are realists. They share the obstacles to joy and the 8 pillars of Joy that they have gleaned from their experience -- in practical and usable ways.

Speaker: Rev. Barbara Gilday
Celebrant: Peggy Bissell

The End of the 2017/18 Church Year
As most of you probably know, our church financial year ends on June 30 and a new year begins on July 1. This note is a reminder to check on your pledge totals for the year to see if you are up to date. If you need to clarify what you might owe, ask Claire Philips or me and we will get the information to you.

Some of us are able to pledge money; some of us “pledge” the work that we do at SUUF, the help we give in place of funds. Many of you do both. While we need funds to keep our doors open, the heat on, and all the other requirements of running a church, we also need the help and the labor that you give. Both “donations” are vital and we don’t say thank you often enough! You are all wonderful! May 27 topic:   There are some fascinating things that arise from our brain’s interaction with the world around us. For one, we almost always think or act as if we have a clear idea of what reality is. Furthermore, we almost always first assume that when reality does not work the way we expect it to, it is the fault of reality – not us. Only when we have a lot of evidence that reality is okay, do we then start to think that our brain may be the problem.
