August 18           POTLUCK PICNIC at WASHINGTON PARK

11am-5pm

Come share company and food with your church family. We have reserved a covered shelter, so regardless of the weather we can be comfortable. This is our “sometimes annual” picnic, where you get to eat foods that you never make at home and catch up on all the gossip.

What to bring:

  • Your own drinks
  • A dish to share
  • Utensils and plates
  • Blankets, chairs, sunscreen, Frisbees, etc., as needed

How to get there:

Take Highway 20 West to Anacortes. Continue on 20 as it becomes Commercial Avenue and continue driving through town. Take a left on 20 (12th Street, AKA Oakes Avenue). Safeway will be on the right. Continue west past the ferry landing to the park.

September 1st: Major Social Justice Meeting

There will be an extraordinary meeting of the Board of Trustees on Sunday, September 1, after services, to define the focus of our social justice efforts.

Every member of the congregation is invited to contribute to the conversation. We are hoping for as many as possible to attend.

Every week the mission of maintaining good spirits and friendships and a calm mind draws us together. It's a necessity, especially in times of turmoil.

Conscience and compassion also animate us. The worse the world around us becomes, the more we are pulled into confronting the privations and injustices around us.

But it is easy to lose balance in a whirwind of outrages and become trapped in a vortex of indignation.

So to keep our wits gathered and to aim our social justice efforts well, we need to assess how much we can take on and ensure that what we do has a discernible effect.
