“Flower Communion Sunday”
This Sunday's service - “in the springing of the year” (Robert Frost) – will center around a “flower communion ritual.” This is a ritual introduced 100 years ago – June 4, 2023 – by the Rev. Norbert Capek to the Unitarian congregation he served in Prague of the then-Czechoslovak Republic. Some years later, the simple service that Capek created found its way to Unitarian congregations in the United States, where many Unitarian Universalist congregations currently observe some version of it. The title of Rev. Bode’s message for this service is “Nature’s Gift to Us & Our Gift to Nature.”
NOTE: Please bring a flower to the service to share (though, if you forget, there will be some on hand).

Dear fellow members and friends:
Less than two weeks to go for us, the members and friends of SUUF, to decide and commit to how wonderful we want our next church year to be. Great Sunday worship is planned, with the thoughtful speakers you appreciate filling the pulpit. $4,000 is budgeted for weekly live music. Donna and Linda plan new coffee pots and more for after service socializing. We continue to make repairs and invest in building maintenance.
A $60,000 budget means $45,000 in pledge income. I try not to focus on money but do ask you to hold on to this: our fellowship existence is a $1,550 per week enterprise. Your happiness, thoughtfulness and growth requires your meeting the challenges of supporting the church you know is important in your life.
There are 45 of us. Divided equally, that is $1,333 each. Some can give more. Please do. Some give less. Any support you provide is welcome and needed.
A hymn of ours goes "Enter, rejoice and come in." Let's enter joyfully into our new church year knowing we provide the support we all need within our fellowships walls.
Thank you for your caring commitment.
Want to discuss your pledge with me? Please call me.
Thank you,
— Ken

UP date from your OPOP Team:
Your OPOP team continues to meet monthly. Some times we even manage to include Matthew in our meetings. One thing we are learning from Matt is perseverance. So often his calls will disconnect, Ginny was able to get in touch with his parents and learned that this commonly happens when they have scheduled a call with Matthew as well. Matthew seems to take it all in stride. We continue to send letters and emails, we also are sending letters to the attorneys office that will next be meeting in court to represent him regarding his release date. This month the 4th Sunday, you will be hearing more from the team as we will be your Sunday Service speakers and Celebrant. I hope you can all make it. Also if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any one of us, we’d love to hear from you. Thank you, ~Eileen Gribble

All visitors/volunteers should sign liability waiver and take safety as their highest priority. Everyones health and enjoyment is our goal along with stewardship of our land and lives. We have a huge amount of bamboo and volunteers are encouraged to harvest dig or use it in whatever way they wish Garden projects...here or elsewhere...A mural project and giant mosaics...are a few creative possibilities...
Indeed I/we can really use the help and it can be really fun for all of us building our community through creative activity. We will have choices..those who can't do garden projects might help in the sun room potting or planting starts.. and or bring a dish for our informal potluck. Indoor participants should be prepared to mask up...and maintain social distance , etc.

Cantabile Chamber Choir's concert is TOMORROW NIGHT! ONE PERFORMANCE ONLY!
Experience the great state of Washington in a new and beautiful way. Cantabile Chamber Choir will present live choral music by Washington State composers while you are taken on a stunning visual tour of the natural beauty our state has to offer. Original video footage by Conner Helms combined with custom musical programming, this one time performance is sure to transport you to your foundational connection with nature.
Tickets $25-$40 available at McIntyre Hall.
This will be more than just a choir concert. We'll be performing works from local composers, live with incredible footage of the beautiful natural places from Skagit, Whatcom, Olympic, and Clallam counties, as well as nature sounds from those counties.
The fantastic auditioned choir has been working hard and is sounding great under the wonderful leadership of our musical director, Dustin Willetts. The venue, Mcintyre Hall, is a wonderful concert hall, designed by the acoustic designer who designed Benaroya Hall in Seattle. So many people have worked so hard to make this event a reality, and we hope as many people as possible get to enjoy it.
Hope to see you at McIntyre Hall on May 19.
