"The River"
Sunday Service

Joseph Bednarik, Speaker
Jorge Manzanera, Celebrant

You Are Here. Now What?”

The large map is on display behind plexiglass. A bold arrow points to a spot and three words announce, in no uncertain terms: "You are here." These three words – each on its own then working together - are profound: Individuality. Existence. Location. This sermon follows that arrow to a specific spot on the map, bows to the miracle of your existence, then asks "OK. Now what?"
Sunday Service On-Line
Regular Sunday services are offered on-line for the duration of this emergency.

We haven't found a way to transmit snacks and coffee, but otherwise we will reconstitute much of the experience of coming to the Fellowship.

The technology platform we're adopting, called Zoom, lends itself to a participatory experience.

We will be together at the same time. We will see each other, talk in turn, chat, listen, and watch. It will be like a campfire for the dispersed.

The Zoom link will be emailed to you on Sunday!
Subject: Contact with City Officials

From: Andra Heath

Hello everyone;

I have been in contact with Erin Von Fempe who is the "Outreach Coordinator"/Social Worker working with the Police Department. In our communication she mentioned a need for the following products to be given to the homeless population;

socks, backpacks, underwear, and hygiene products,

Let's have a church drive for these products. It would go a long way to keeping good relations with the police department and help our cause as well as helping the homeless.

I can donate socks, underwear and hygiene products. Anyone else?

Please contact Andra and arrange to donate.

"Restoration efforts reveal farm equipment from the previous century!"

Marcia, Susie Wilson, and I went to Child's Creek farm to visit Cindy last week. We took a walk past the barn to an apple orchard that has recently been reclaimed from overgrown berries... and look what else has been uncovered in the orchard!  -- Doris Brevoort

September Children’s Book Drive!

Many of the materials currently in the children’s room are old, worn, and unstimulating. We at SUUF have been working hard to bring new life to the children’s room so that when in-person services resume, the children can meet in an engaging and invigorating space.

The heart of our room and the center of the change is the library, which is currently filled with outdated and tattered books. I’m hoping to change this through the creation of this month-long book drive! Using the inSpirit bookstore, I have compiled an Amazon Wishlist for members to access. All of the books listed are those that can be used in Sunday services, but it is also my
intention to set-up a space for children to check-out books they’re interested in. If you don’t want to use Amazon you can also order from the inSpirit bookstore too.

Now that school is starting, give the gift of a free and responsible search for truth and meaning!

Children's Religious Education Fall Program
“Circle of Trees” is an eight week multigenerational program that nurtures a deep connection with trees, nature, and all of earth’s living creatures. We will use trees as an entry point to understand and connect with life on earth. Across many cultures, trees are recognized as a symbol for life on earth—for example, the biblical Tree of Life. Even young children understand trees as sustainers of life, fundamental engines of life on earth as we know it. Trees create and purify the air we breathe. They house and provide resources for myriad creatures, including humans. They bring us peace, joy, and delight.

We welcome everyone in this program, even if you don’t have kids! Each week includes stories, videos, meditations, and other activities that are engaging for all ages and there is no obligation to complete anything. I highly recommend everyone sign up!

The program will start on Monday, Sept. 14th, and will be email based. If you are interested in joining, please use this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Rsqp-HQu9Ehb6OMSwffQgiqcf2WL43ZpV3c_0ln28Gg/edit?usp=sharing
Helping Kindness: a note received from Tatum Kenn

Hope all is well,

Just wanted to put it out there that if there's anyone in our Congregation who is at-risk and would like assistance with receiving groceries or other goods, if handed a list and money, I can make some trips.

Best, Tatum.
