“The
Abortion Debate: In Search of Common Ground”

This sermon will explore (at least) three things: 1) Why it’s so difficult to find common ground on the issue of abortion.
2) Is there more common ground in this debate than is commonly understood? 3) Criteria by which to determine when to grant legal rights to gestational human life.

SUUF SERVICES
June 26
"Welcome Summer" + Annual Meeting

Today we mark the end of our regular church year with a short worship service. It's an important day...where we show support for our Board and the efforts of our members and friends. We'll also get ready for the upcoming year by voting on important issues affecting us all. We need your attendance to make that happen.

Then, during July and August, we'll look at our 8 Principles that are the foundation of this religion. For eight Sundays, members and friends will present the many ways they find joy and value in those principles with opportunities for everyone to share their own ideas. We even have picnics scheduled, where we can just have fun! So stay tuned for upcoming services and events.
Services are in person at the Fellowship, 500 W Section St, Mount Vernon and on Zoom

Retirement is definitely looming and I'm already wondering what mischief I'll get into with my free time. Sunday's send-off was such a surprise, full of the kindest messages I could ever receive! It just confirmed what I already knew... that this fellowship is a true family and a spiritual home for me and you. Thank you to the Board and all the members & friends who have supported (and honored me) for the past 10+ years of joy, music and involvement. I was presented with a gift box that blew me away! So many goodies inside that all said "thank you"; I appreciate it so very much. I will hold the warmth, love and gratitude presented to me last Sunday for a long, long time. remaining!"
Weeders Needed! Doreen, Donna and I made a dent in the weeding needed around the Fellowship. Could some other folks step up to do some more? Also, there is vinegar solution in the utility room that needs to be sprayed in gravel areas outside the beds.

Congratulations to Mike Murdock, Pete Smith and Riita Dunning! They are all retiring!ning!"
You are invited to celebrate on Saturday, June 18, at 1 pm, the 40th anniversary of the Center for Spiritual Living, 1508 N 18th St. Mount Vernon. Reception to follow

Covenant Circle 4 pm on Wednesdays. All are welcome! The conversation is wide-ranging and easy going. ("Who could ask for anything more?")

The Covenant Circle is a mid-week gathering, a chance to chat and share with others outside of the Sunday service.

Happy June birthdays!!! Best wishes to Karen, Ray, Ken D, Claire, Doreen, and any others celebrating your special day this month.
I am a member of Central United Methodist Church in Sedro-Woolley. We are in conversations with PFLAG Skagit to again participate in the Loggerodeo Parade on the 4th of July. In the past, there have been members of your congregation who have joined us in walking the parade route along with persons from several other churches and organizations in support of PFLAG Skagit and the LGBTQ community in Skagit County. We would like to invite members of your congregation to participate with us again this 4th of July. PFLAG is getting the parade permit. In addition to our “float”, there will be a pick-up truck with bales of hay in the back to offer a ride to participants who are unable to walk the entire parade route. We will be sending out additional information as we have it – time and location to gather, etc. let me know if you have any questions.

Grace and Peace!
