Elyria Catholic High School is delighted to announce a special moment in EC history—naming the Coliseum floor in honor of esteemed Coach Bob Guinta. This is a tribute to the profound impact Coach Guinta has had on Elyria Catholic; his dedication, leadership, and passion for the game inspiring countless students and athletes over the years.
"As we name the Coliseum playing court in honor of Coach Bob Guinta, we are commemorating a coach and celebrating a legacy. From 1968 to 1988, Coach Guinta was a teacher, coach, mentor, role model, and community pillar. Our hope is that future Panthers will be inspired by the same values that Coach Guinta embodied every day," said President Annie Heidersbach.
On August 20, Coach Bob Guinta, his wife, Shirley, and his family viewed the court for the first time since it was refurbished this summer. The new floor is emblazed with Elyria Catholic's iconic block EC, Home of the Panthers, and Coach Guinta's signature.
Elyria Catholic extends a heartfelt thank you to all the donors who have generously contributed to the Coach Guinta Court Endowment Fund. Your support is integral to the continuous improvements and maintenance of the floor and Coliseum, enhancing the facilities for our current and future students. Contributions to the Coach Guinta Court Endowment Fund can be made online at elyriacatholic.com, helping to honor Coach Guinta's legacy and enrich the Elyria Catholic student experience.
We eagerly await the public unveiling of the floor at the start of the basketball season. The date for this exciting event will be announced soon, and we can't wait to share this moment with you.
