Recovery Works: Samaritan Awarded $3.5 Million to Expand Employment Services

Recovery is about more than overcoming substance use, it is about rebuilding a life. That is why Samaritan Daytop Village is proud to announce that we have been awarded $3.5 million from the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) to launch expanded community-based vocational programming for people in treatment and recovery.

Over the next five years, this investment will enable us to provide coordinated employment services to an estimated 400 to 600 individuals each year, helping participants secure meaningful employment. The new programming will be based at our Bronx and Queens Peer Recovery Centers and will begin later this fall.

The grant strengthens Samaritan's longstanding commitment to treating the whole person. Employment is a critical part of sustained recovery, providing stability, purpose, and financial independence. This new initiative builds upon our existing workforce development programs, including our Peer Training Program, which prepares approximately 120 peer specialists annually, and our CASAC Training Institute, which equips future addiction counselors with the skills to serve communities across New York. Together, these programs create pathways to recovery and brighter futures.

Healing Here: Bringing Health and Recovery to the Community

Behavioral health starts with meeting people where they are. On Wednesday, June 24, Samaritan Daytop Village's Peer Alliance Recovery Center (PARC) hosted the 4th Annual Jamaica Community Fair, bringing health, recovery, and wellness resources directly to community members.

The event reflects Samaritan's commitment to making health care accessible beyond traditional clinical settings. We believe every interaction is an opportunity to improve health and save lives. Community members received health screenings, Narcan training, information about substance use treatment, recovery, prevention, and Food as Medicine programming that trains people on the connection between food and wellbeing.

Leaning on Me: Celebrating Brotherhood and Recovery at Fox Run

A recovery journey strengthened by a community of people with shared experiences who support each other. That spirit was on display on June 25, when residents and staff at ourFox Run Residential Program gathered for the annual "Men of Excellence: Leaning on Each Other" celebration, which recognizes the importance of community, resilience, and mutual support in recovery.

Located on our Rhinebeck campus, Fox Run is one of the many residential treatment programs that make up Samaritan's comprehensive continuum of care, providing individuals with a structured, supportive environment as they build the foundation for lasting recovery. Residents receive individualized substance use treatment, counseling, peer support, and connections to the additional health, vocational, and recovery services that help people successfully transition to independent living.
