It's that time of year: We have the privilege of awarding grants and introducing you to the 2019 grantees! This truly is the most important thing we do every year.

We were overwhelmed by the volume and high quality of projects that came to us this year. While we wanted to fund them all, after careful deliberations and fascinating discussions, we are proud to offer 33 grants to 29 communities, providing $134,451 towards history projects in Montana this year.

Some of the exciting projects the History Foundation will fund this year include:

  • Re-roofing Fort Connah, the oldest standing building in Montana, located in St. Ignatius
  • Digitizing 30,000 pages of The Madisonian newspaper in Madison County
  • Developing Investigating Rock Art: Medicine Rocks State Park, a guide that will educate students and the general public on the archaeological resources of Carter County, and SO MUCH MORE!
