ANNOUNCING 2022 MEETING ROOMS
Did you know that the Library has meeting rooms available for public use by organizations for educational, cultural, intellectual, civic, or charitable activities? We are happy to announce that reservations for the 2022 year for the meeting rooms at the Downtown Library and Redwood Shores Branch Library will open on Monday November 1, 2021. Beginning Monday, we will accept applications for reservations taking place January 2, 2022 through December 29, 2022. Information on our room details, capacity limits, fees and more can be found in our Meeting Room Policy.

A TEDDY BEAR TEA
Families with children ages 4-8 from Redwood City and North Fair Oaks are invited to an afternoon of community fellowship to kick-off United Against Hate Week Nov 14-20, 2021. Children will build a customized teddy bear at the Downtown Library Plaza to take home. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Tickets will be available starting November 1st at the Downtown Library, supplies are limited.
 
This event is underwritten by Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and brought to you by Redwood City Public Library and Redwood City Together.

Las familias con niños de 4 a 8 años de Redwood City y North Fair Oaks están invitadas a una tarde de compañerismo comunitario para dar inicio a la Semana Unidos contra el Odio del 14 al 20 de noviembre de 2021. Los niños construirán un osito de peluche personalizado en la plaza de la biblioteca central para llevar a casa. Se proporcionarán aperitivos y bebidas.

Los boletos estarán disponibles a partir del 1 de noviembre en el mostrador de La Biblioteca Central, Sala de Niños.

NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY FOUNDATION
As we get closer to meeting our Makerspace fundraising goals, the Redwood City Library Foundation would like to acknowledge and thank our major contributors to this project thus far.

SAGA Foundation ($180,000); City of Redwood City ($165,000); Sunlight Giving Foundation ($50,000); CA Public Utilities Commission ($34,410); Bothin Foundation ($30,000); Chan Zuckerberg Initiative ($20,000); Dostart Foundation ($14,000); David & Rebecca Weekly (in memory of Gordon Weekly) and Devcon Construction, Inc. ($10,000 each); Cowan Family Foundation, Greystar Development, Redwood City Arts Commission, Sares Regis Group of Northern CA, and United Association of Plumbers and Steamfitters, Local Union 467 ($5,000 each).


David Bartoshuk, President of SAGA Foundation, said “Having this innovative idea come to fruition as we exit the pandemic is perfect timing. We look forward to seeing the community come together to collaborate and create in this dynamic new setting."
We also appreciate the numerous other donors who have contributed less than $5,000 to the Makerspace in the Downtown Library. Because of you, we have raised over $562,000 of our $620,000 goal! It is not too late to be a part of this project. Cardinal Free Clinics will provide health education materials in Spanish, Chinese, and many other languages, blood pressure screenings, and information about connecting with services. Join us at the Downtown Library for one of three visits:

Children from 3-5 years of age are invited to join readers across the world for JumpStart’s Read for the Record annual event. Downtown Library on Oct 27, RCPL Branches on Oct 28.

Read to a specially trained dog provided by the Peninsula Humane Society. This program will take place in front of the Downtown Library.

MON NOV 8, 6:30pm
Join us on Zoom for a virtual performance by musician Rick Vandivier.

Share, take, and start seedlings for fall and winter vegetable crops at this outdoor event. at Redwood Shores Branch Library

  • All Redwood City Public Library locations are open for restored hours and services. Visit our RCPL Limited Edition page for hours, services, safety guidelines, and more.
  • Curbside drop-in service for holds pick-up is available at the Downtown Library during open hours
  • Bookdrops are open to accept returns
  • Computers for 1-hour use are available at all locations
  • Our events are online and outside! Check our calendar here.
  • Meeting rooms at the Redwood Shores Branch Library are open to the public, more information here.
  • Borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks; use streaming TV, movie, and music services; and access digital subscriptions to newspapers and magazines here.
