Asma Nusrat, MD, assumed the role of President of the American Society for Investigative Pathology ( ASIP ) on July 1, 2018. Dr. Nusrat succeeds Dr. Dan Remick who served in this role from July 2017 to June 2018, and is the 5th woman President of the ASIP . Dr. Nusrat is the Aldred S. Warthin Professor, Mucosal Inflammation, and Epithelial Pathobiology and the Director of Experimental Pathology in the Department of Pathology at the University of Michigan School of Medicine at Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Nusrat is a long-time member of the ASIP (since 2003) and has previously served the Society in various ways, including as a member of the ASIP Council, Chair of the Program Committee, and Co-Chair of the Vascular and Mucosal Pathobiology Scientific Interest Group.
