Revisiting Language and Literacy: Obligations of the Schools of Education
While some individuals acquire literacy skills without much difficulty, a significant number of children have difficulty mastering the literacy skills due to various reasons, such as home environment, oral language development, orthography, and instruction. In the first part, Dr. Joshi will present the findings based on the Componential Model of Reading (CMR), in both English and other languages. Additionally, even though evidence-based instructional systems are available, they are not being provided in the colleges of education in many parts of the world. This lecture will address why teachers are not well prepared based on the Peter Effect.
