Place as a social prescription

Jay Pitter is a dynamic urban placemaker, acclaimed author, and visionary advocate known for her transformative work in shaping equitable cities. With an award-winning practice located at the nexus of urban planning and social justice, and academic leadership focused on the same, Pitter often emphasizes the pivotal role of equitable spaces and places in fostering community wellbeing.

She demonstrates the power of "place as a social prescription," where urban environments serve as remedies for social connection healing and improved public health. Pitter's writings and engagements support municipal leaders, urban planners, and policymakers to create spaces that prioritize accessibility, safety, and belonging.

Her influence sparks a paradigm shift in urban development, underlining the idea that cities are not just landscapes, but living prescriptions for healthier societies.
