May 3, 2023, Mill Valley, CA. The Kiddo! Board of Directors is thrilled to announce the appointment of Jessica Newman as Executive Director. She will begin her position effective July 1, with transition support from longtime Executive Director, Bill Lampl, who announced his departure earlier this year.

“I am proud and honored to take on the role of Executive Director at Kiddo!, a foundation that is at the heart of the Mill Valley community,” said Newman. “I look forward to building on the strong foundation that Penny Weiss, Trisha Garlock, and Bill Lampl have grown over the last forty years and continuing their vision to inspire children to reach their full potential by funding arts education and other vital school programs.”

Outgoing Executive Director Lampl, who served in the position for the last decade, believes Newman will propel Kiddo! in the right direction. “Jessica has been an ardent supporter of Kiddo! and a committed member of the Kiddo! Board of Directors and our community,” said Lampl. “I look forward to seeing her leadership in action as she guides Kiddo! into the future.”

Newman brings extensive non-profit and volunteer experience to this important role and is known for her ability to connect with teams, volunteers and supporters to create positive community impact. She has served on the Kiddo! Board of Directors for the past two years as Vice Chair, Business Partner Chair and Gala/Auction Co-Chair. In 2022, Newman led the successful campaign to pass the Measure G School Bond, making nearly $200 million available to the Mill Valley School District for facilities improvements and currently serves on the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee. She has also been active in the PTA, including as Old Mill School PTA President and as a member of the PTA Council.

In addition to her highly relevant volunteer work and deep ties in Mill Valley, Newman has 25 years professional experiences with non-profit and government agencies in the areas of healthcare and education. She has managed large teams, complex budgets and is an expert in grant-writing. Newman is a graduate of Georgetown University. She and her husband, Alan, have two daughters, Maddie and Charlotte, in the Mill Valley School District.

“After an extensive search, Newman's passion for arts education for our Mill Valley students, as well as her wealth of experience in both volunteer and non-profit roles, made it clear that she was the perfect fit for this role,” said Liz Moriarty, Kiddo! Board Chair. “On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, we are absolutely thrilled that she will help lead our foundation into this next phase of growth.”
