Announcing Michelle Corbett as Interim Director,
Office of Research Development
Dear Colleagues,

As many of you are aware, Kat Baker has accepted a great opportunity at the University of Chicago as the Assistant Dean and Senior Director of Academic Affairs. In the past year and a half since Kat joined us, she led the newly founded Office of Research Development (ORD) at Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute exactly to where we hoped it would go.

Under Kat’s leadership, ORD has become an important center point for facilitating communications outside of and within Manne Research Institute, re-imagining research navigation, building new connectedness between the research institute and our investigators, expanding professional development and training, supporting peer review, and laying the groundwork for our new website that I expect will greatly improve the experience of learning about the research institute, our people, our expertise, and our resources.

Kat’s professionalism and collaborative approach have brought together a talented team dedicated to pushing forward our research mission, increasing engagement, and adding professional satisfaction to the vital work everyone does to advance pediatric medicine and improve child health. I want to thank Kat for her dedication, focus, and partnership in getting us to where we are today.

I am pleased to announce that Michelle Corbett will assume the role of Interim Director for the Office of Research Development. Michelle has previously led both the Research Education and Navigation teams within ORD, focusing on the cultivation and alignment of resources, orientation and onboarding, and identification of the research needs and gaps faced by research faculty and staff.  Michelle will employ her wealth of talents and experience in research development to further the progress of ORD. Please congratulate Michelle on this new opportunity.

Regards,
Pat
