Habitat Heartland Announces Semi-Detached Build for Two Families in Drumbo
February 4, 2021, Oxford County, ON – Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario is excited to announce their upcoming semi-detached build for two local families in the town of Drumbo, with construction expected to begin in May 2021. Applications to own these Habitat homes are now being accepted. Local families who may qualify for the Habitat homeownership program are encouraged to take the eligibility quiz on the Habitat Heartland website to begin their application.
This semi-detached home will be the 7th and 8th Habitat builds in Oxford County, bringing much needed affordable homeownership opportunities to the area. The Habitat homeownership program allows qualified families to own a Habitat home through a zero-down-payment, zero-interest, geared to income mortgage. Homeowner mortgage payments are then re-invested into the Habitat Build Fund, helping to finance future home builds for more families in the community.
Habitat Heartland is also looking for community members to serve on the steering committee for this build. Involvement in the Drumbo build steering committee gives individuals from different backgrounds the opportunity to contribute ideas, industry experience, and support to this project. Construction on the semi-detached home is expected to start in May 2021, following all provincial health and safety protocols specific to the construction industry, including: limiting the number of people & trades on site, improved cleaning protocols, proper social distancing, and mandatory face masks when social distancing is not possible.
