The new record label Parallel Vision officially launches today, co-founded by industry veterans Daniel Oakley and Darren Potuck, alongside Brad Shultz, the guitarist and co-founder of the GRAMMY-winning band Cage The Elephant. In partnership with Big Loud Rock, the Nashville and Los Angeles-based label’s first signing is the rock duo Girl Tones

Oakley shared, “We’ve been friends for nearly two decades, each carving out different corners of the industry—artist, executive, creative, while also working and creating together throughout those years. Brad had spent the last several years developing and producing artists while Darren and I worked with major music and entertainment companies.”

“We were presented with a chance to have our own outlet to further develop and release the music. Parallel Vision is that avenue,” continues Shultz. “It’s honestly a blessing the way it all came together. Girl Tones is the perfect first chapter. They’ve gone from local stages to global releases and touring internationally in under a year—and we’re just getting started.”

On their partnership with Big Loud Rock, Potuck shared, “At Parallel Vision, we’re driven by a desire to support artists who push boundaries. Partnering with Big Loud Rock gives us the infrastructure and momentum to take that vision to a much bigger audience — without compromising the art. We’re excited to build something that respects creativity while delivering at the highest level.”

Partner at Big Loud and President of Big Loud Rock, Joey Moi said, “Big Loud Rock is honored to be in partnership with the renowned team at Parallel Vision and their first signing Girl Tones. As part of our label’s mission to develop the next generation of alternative-rock artists, these strategic partnerships will be part of our core mission as we continue to build and take this company to new heights.”

Along with today’s news, Girl Tones released their new single and video “Blame.” With each of their early singles, the sisters Kenzie and Laila have shown the ease with which they can shapeshift through the many subgenres of rock. Filmed in the ‘70s wonderland that is Nashville’s Dive Motel, the official video for “Blame” is cheeky and pure sisterly fun. Directed by Casey Pierce, the vintage-tinged cut plays up the trope of sibling rivalries from pulling pranks to dividing the bedroom down the middle and not crossing the line — Watch

Girl Tones have already had a busy year out on the road supporting Cage The Elephant in Europe, before joining The Velveteers and hey, nothing back in the states. Beginning in July, they will next head out alongside Silversun Pickups for a North American run. Along the way, Girl Tones will make their festival debut at Lollapalooza, Shaky Knees, Austin City Limits and more.

ABOUT GIRL TONES:

Girl Tones, of planet Earth, are a high-energy rock duo brought to life by two sisters named Kenzie and Laila. Both classically trained musicians, Kenzie transitioned from cello to guitar and Laila from piano to drums in an effort to electrify sentient beings from this galaxy to the next. Their debut releases including "Fade Away," “Again” and “I Know You Know” were produced by Brad Shultz of Cage The Elephant and released via his label Parallel Vision.

Their first offerings have earned the praise of PAPER, NME, DORK and many others with The Luna Collective describing this as “no polished debut; it’s an unapologetic, distorted blast of fury that establishes Girl Tones as a force to be reckoned with.”In their short but mighty existence, the duo has toured with Cage The Elephant in the US and Europe, as well as supporting The Velveteers and hey, nothing. Nashville.com said “Girl Tones are quickly moving from a regional favorite to a force to be reckoned with on a national scene” with many people likening the duo's performance style to that of The White Stripes. The coming months will see more music, tour dates alongside Silversun Pickups, and Girl Tones’ festival debut at Shaky Knees, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits.
