The Commission on General Conference has now completed its work and has submitted its report and recommendations to the Governing Board.
General Conference is a fundamental part of our life together as MCC. As such, it is for the clergy and laity of UFMCC to discuss and vote on the recommendations from the Commission.
The Governing Board has voted to hold a Special General Conference on 10th October 2026. The only items for consideration at this online Business Meeting will be the recommendations from the Commission.
The General Conference Business Forum will be held on 3rd October 2026.
What Happens Next?
Here is a summary of Special General Conference timeline
- The Governing Board and MCC staff will begin the process of verifying who is eligible to vote
- The full report of the Commission on General Conference will be published by 1st June, along with an executive summary
- The motions and proposed bylaw changes will also be published at the same time

These documents will form the Discussion Pack
- Discussion Circles, which are open to all, will be offered in June 2026 (schedule will be published within the next 7 days).
- Feedback from the Discussion Circles will be given to the Commission on General Conference

The Business Pack will be issued later, which will include any changes made by the Commission, in light of the feedback received
- There will be some opportunity for further discussion and clarification
- Online Business Forum 3rd October 2026
- Online Special General Conference 10th October 2026
Who is eligible to vote?
All affiliated churches which are in compliance with their assessment contributions, and if applicable, US Board of Pensions payments, up to the end of June 2026 will be eligible to vote.
Churches will have up to 15th August 2026 to become compliant. If an affiliated church is not compliant, the Senior Pastor and Lay Delegate(s) will not be eligible to vote.
The Governing Board will be in touch with every affiliated church to confirm their voting status and MCC staff will support those who need to catch up with assessment contributions and forms.
The following are also eligible to vote:
- All honorably retired clergy
- Clergy who have a 2026 active license to practise from MCC (including chaplains and others who minister beyond a local MCC church setting)
- Interim Pastoral Leaders of affiliated churches (when the IPL is a member of UFMCC)
- Members of the Council of Elders
- Members of the Governing Board who are not clergy or Lay Delegates and are members of UFMCC
Details of how to register to vote will be published nearer the time of the Business Meeting.
