Dear Friends:
We miss seeing you and sharing our exhibitions and programs with you at YOUR MAC!
While closing the museum during this time is necessary to protect the health of our citizens, it has become increasingly challenging for us financially. Despite that situation, we’re meeting this challenge with creativity and ingenuity to stretch our resources and deliver online programs and resources to engage you while you’re at home.
The MAC relies heavily on revenue from admission sales, school field trips, memberships, events and programs to meet our operating budget. Unfortunately, our three largest fundraisers for the year had to be cancelled due to the Governor’s stay-at-home order. These events included our spring Pompeii Gala, the annual ArtFest, and the Mother’s Day Tour. Additionally, the exhibit
Pompeii: The Immortal City
had already surpassed attendance records and was on track to be our largest blockbuster. Cutting it off after six weeks means that we are feeling a significant loss in admissions revenue in addition to the cancelled fundraisers.
But even more devastating to us are the memories that are not being made, the moments of wonder that are not being experienced, and the energy and excitement you bring to us that is missing while we remain closed. We are always grateful for your support and we are confident we will weather this storm.
But right now, we need your help.
We are excited to announce that a group of generous donors have committed a total of $25,000 in matching funds to support the MAC during this difficult time. We are challenging
you
to help us by making your own gift, which will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling the amount.
We welcome your support as soon as you are able to help. In the meantime, watch for our e-newsletters and follow us on social media for Museum updates. Please visit our website

to participate in programs that continue to bring art and culture to you during the closure.
Please stay safe and healthy.
Thank You
