PCSS Announces Staff Changes
Justina Pereira, who has worked with the PCSS initiative for nearly seven years and has been an integral part of its success, is leaving us to be home with her new baby. The PCSS team wishes Justina well!

Jennifer Lundstrom and Erin Waters and the rest of the PCSS team will take up the considerable slack left behind by Justina. We hope for a seamless transition of Justina's duties.

Please join the PCSS team in wishing Justina well. We know this was a difficult decision and we hope the time she spends with her husband and infant son are rewarding and wonderful. Knowing Justina, she'll approach motherhood with the same commitment and dedication as she did working for PCSS.

State Medicaid Programs Required to Cover MAT
ONDCP is pleased to announced that the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) reaffirmed to states that under the SUPPORT Act, state Medicaid programs are required to provide coverage of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) services and drugs under a new mandatory benefit. The purpose of this new mandatory benefit is to increase access to evidence-based treatment for Opioid Use Disorder for all Medicaid beneficiaries and to allow patients to seek the best course of treatment and particular medications which may not have previously been covered. [Learn more]

New Study: Home vs Office for Medication Enhanced Recovery
Home vs Office for Medication Enhanced Recovery (HOMER) is a new national study comparing three methods of induction for MAT for OUD. This study will help determine if certain patient and practice characteristics make patients better candidates for one method over the others. Results will help fill a gap in the evidence around effectively treating OUD with MAT in primary care settings. The three methods are: 1) home induction (asynchronous, unobserved), 2) office induction (synchronous, observed), and 3) telehealth induction (synchronous phone or video contact, observed).
