Akron Community Foundation's board of directors recently approved quarterly grants totaling $4,463,262, including $608,241 in competitive education grants chosen by the foundation's Community Investment Committee. Among those grants is $50,000 for Akron Public Schools to support a liaison who is recruiting nonprofit partners to offer their time and talent to its middle schools as part of the schools’ College & Career Academies model.
Akron Community Foundation recently welcomed 23 new charitable funds to its growing family, bringing its total number of funds to more than 780. These newest funds will help improve the Greater Akron community by purchasing art supplies for Akron Public Schools, supporting the Stow Schools Foundation, empowering local women and girls, and more.
Local nonprofits working on the front lines of the opioid epidemic will receive $260,000 in funding, thanks to recent grants awarded from the Summit County Opioid Healing Fund. This is the second round of funding for the partnership between Akron Community Foundation and Summit County, bringing total funding to $600,000. 
Applications for Akron Community Foundation's second round of capital grants will be accepted beginning May 1, 2022, and must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. on June 1, 2022. Awards will be announced in late September. Capital grants range from $2,500 to $25,000 and are available to current recipients of the foundation's competitive grant cycles, as well as to organizations with agency endowment funds at Akron Community Foundation.
