NUTRITION AND SAQ
Surf is excited to launch two new programs, building on our commitment to the whole athlete, both under the guidance of our new SAQ and Nutrition Specialist  Heather Alschuler.

SAQ (Speed, Agility, & Quickness) sessions will be scheduled with each Surf coach to begin incorporating into all team trainings with the goal of improving performance and reducing injuries. Learn more here.

Nutrition tips specific to young athletes are posted on our new resource page here for all of our families, and will be updated regularly.

PLAYERS AND TEAMS OF THE MONTH
Our new monthly recognition program celebrates the teams and individuals who  best exemplify the three pillars of #WeAreSurf by being enthusiastic, intentional, & together.

August Team of the Month - Girls
The G08A girls grew closer throughout the summer. Coach Simon Craig says, "We had moments of success at each tournament. The girls are excited and enthusiastic about training and games. We train with more purpose and intention and the bonds between teammates are stronger."
August Team of the Month - Boys
This summer, B08A were Rush Cup Champions and had a very positive showing at Snohomish  Bigfoot Challenge, even though they were playing a year-up.
"In Bigfoot Challenge, they displayed togetherness, and intention with the way they approached each game, and continued to stay enthusiastic despite the physical challenges they faced," says Coach David Hartshorn.

August Players of the Month - Girls
Natalie Maxey and Bella Anson (G08A) showcased the clubs core values throughout the summer. The girls are intentional in the way they practice by training on the edge at every session. This mentality inspires the players around them to challenge themselves and maximize the touches they get throughout the week.

When the girls step on the field you can see the level of play increase - this generates enthusiasm within the entire team to train like an elite athlete. Coach Simon Craig states, "I feel that a large part of our teams' growth throughout the summer was a direct result of the leadership of these two girls. The 08A team is starting to look like a family, the bonds are stronger now than they have ever been."

August Player of the Month - Boys
Will Matrone (B08A) s howed an internal motivation and desire to keep trying, even when faced with playing against older and more physical opposition in this summer's Bigfoot Challenge.

Coach David Hartshorn proudly beams, "Will continuously provides 100% effort and always looks to put the interests of the team first."
