Green Community Fund awards $25,000 in grants

In March, the Green Community Fund awarded eight grants totaling $25,000 to nonprofit programs serving Green residents. This year's total includes a $10,000 impact grant to the Green Family YMCA to support facility renovations, including resurfacing the aquatic center ceiling and replacing the flooring and lockers in multiple spaces.

In Case You Missed It: John & Jane Warmus named inaugural Green Community Impact Award recipients

For almost four decades, Warmus Companies has contributed to the Green community with jobs and residences for families and businesses. Green Community Fund co-chair Barry Hollis emphasized the particular importance of Brier Creek Senior Independent Living and Greenview Senior Assisted Living, saying, "Warmus Companies has made it possible for people to stay and grow old in Green."

The State of the Fund

The Green Community Fund was established in 2022, the city's 30th anniversary, by a group of committed Green residents who wanted to create an enduring source of support for the community they live in and love. The decision to create the fund was influenced by a number of factors, including dormant community projects, unrealized civic initiatives, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The combination of these issues revealed how crucial it is to have a charitable endowment that can respond to emerging needs and support the many nonprofits serving the Green community.

The fund's founders set an ambitious goal of raising $1 million in the first five years, and we're excited to share that we've successfully raised more than $400,000 in gifts and pledges!
