Myriad Botanical Gardens' Reopening Plans

Myriad Botanical Gardens continues to take active measures in the effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. Our decisions are informed by current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the City of Oklahoma City emergency declarations.

All areas of our gardens and grounds have remained open at Myriad Botanical Gardens with the exception of the Children’s Garden and the enclosed Dog Park.

In keeping with the phased approach outlined by current recommendations from the City of Oklahoma City, the Gardens plan to re-open our closed spaces.

The Gardens features wonderful spaces to enjoy being outdoors. Although we will be phasing in all aspects of our operations, we ask that you continue to practice social distancing and refrain from gathering in groups as we continue to work together to stop this virus from spreading.

Here is the first phase of our operational reopening plan at the Gardens.

Support the Gardens

We understand there are many demands for support as we, like many of our peers, have had to close our revenue-generating operations, including the Crystal Bridge Conservatory, family festivals, Mo’s Carousel, rentals, classes, special fundraising events and more.

If you are able to support the Gardens with a donation of any size or purchase or renew a membership, this vital support will help us maintain our gardens and grounds.

Thank you for your consideration.

*The new Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act allows all donors to deduct an additional $300 in charitable contributions on top of the standard deduction.
Botanical Broadcasts

The members of the Public Events and Education departments have found a way for you to stay connected to nature, and the Gardens, with Botanical Broadcast.
This virtual initiative features daily engagements including experiments, crafts, activities, poems, and playlists in support of a weekly garden theme. The goal is to reconnect with nature while offering learning opportunities for all ages, particularly school-age children who are home for the foreseeable future.

Reading Wednesdays live

For Reading Wednesday books are nature-themed and selected based on the season. We’ll begin with an interactive song and children will enjoy creating a small craft after the story. Join our Facebook invite here.

Reading Wednesday live on Facebook is brought to you by Full Circle Bookstore , located on Northwest Expressway in Fifty Penn Place.

While they are temporarily closed to the public, they want you to know that at this time, Full Circle is offering free delivery in the northwest Oklahoma City area, as well as free shipping anywhere.

Taking a walk is good for the soul

Walking in the Gardens is still allowed but you must practice social distancing, keeping 6 feet apart. The grounds are lovely. There are lots of new blooms! For Fitbit friends, it's 1,200 steps once around the perimeter. You'll notice the new spring colors like never before.

May Gardening Tips here

Flowers
  • Annual bedding plants can be set out for summer color.
  • Plant summer bulbs such as cannas, dahlias, elephant ear, caladiums, and gladiolus.
  • Shake a leaf over white paper to look for spider mites. If the tiny specks begin to crawl, mites are present.

Fruits and Vegetables
  • Plant watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumber, eggplant, okra, sweet potatoes, etc.
  • Fruit spray programs should be faithfully continued during the next several weeks.
  • Late May is the best time to control borers in the orchard. Check for label recommendations and controls.

Water Gardens
  • Clean out the water garden and prepare for the season. Divide and repot water garden plants.
  • Begin feeding fish when water temperatures are over 50°F.
