2020 Educational Advancement Opportunity Scholarship Recipients Announced
For Immediate Release
June 30, 2020

Baton Rouge, Louisiana -The Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus is pleased to announce the recipients of the LLWC Foundation 2020 Educational Advancement Opportunity Scholarship. Each scholar was selected from a pool of extraordinary applicants and chosen based upon their leadership, academic achievements, community service, character, writing and exemplary accomplishments.

While this year’s Women of Excellence Scholarship Luncheon was canceled and the economic impact of fundraising was extremely challenging due to the unprecedented global coronavirus pandemic, the women legislators were determined to move forward with the scholarship application and selection process.

"We know in the fall, students will still pursue their education in-person or online despite the challenges of this virus. We just wanted to ensure the EAO Scholarship would still be there to help financially," said Louisiana Senate President Pro Tempore Sen. Beth Mizell, chair of the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus.

Scholarships totaling $7,000 will be awarded this year. Since 2010, the women legislators through the LLWC Foundation has helped women with their educational pursuits and have awarded $115,000 in scholarships. A special appreciation is extended to the women legislators in the Louisiana Legislature and the dedicated sponsors, donors and friends, who share in the LLWC Foundation's mission of developing and equipping the next generation of women leaders in Louisiana through education.

This year nearly 100 applications were received for the EAO Scholarship. Listed below are the names of the 2020 Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Educational Advancement Opportunity Scholars, their schools and their hometowns.
