Shalom, Safranim and Friends! We’re thrilled to announce the 2022 Association of Jewish Libraries conference, Together Again, to be held June 27–29, 2022, in Philadelphia. In the weeks ahead, you’ll receive a series of updates highlighting information to help you make your conference plans.

After the tremendous success of our online conferences in 2020 and 2021, the AJL Board and Council have decided to hold an in-person conference every other year and alternate with an online conference. The 2022 conference will be completely in-person and the 2023 conference will be online.

  • Registration is open! The full conference Early Bird Rate for AJL members is $475 (by April 29). This includes all conference sessions and kosher meals (lunch on Monday; breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Tuesday; and breakfast and lunch on Wednesday). Per diem and other special rates for library/Jewish studies students and retirees are also available.

  • A block of rooms has been reserved at the Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District, a block away from the conference venue. The conference rate is $209/night (plus taxes and fees). Click here to reserve a room.

  • Conference support is available to current members of AJL and students who register for the full conference. Note that most applications for support must be submitted by Friday, March 25. See the Conference Support page for details.

  • Our conference will kick off with a welcome lunch and keynote address on Monday, June 27. There will be some committee meetings on Monday morning, as well as the Newcomer’s Welcome. Registration will open at 9:00am and the Exhibit Hall will open at 11:00am.

  • The conference will conclude with lunch and the annual Feinstein Lecture on Wednesday, June 29.

  • Optional tours will be offered on Wednesday afternoon; stay tuned for more information and plan to extend your stay.

  • We received more than seventy presentation proposals on a wide range of topics related to various aspects of librarianship, literature, Judaism, the Jewish experience, and Israel that will be relevant to library professionals working in academic and research institutions, archives, synagogues, day schools, and Jewish community centers as well as public schools and libraries serving Jewish communities. Acceptance letters will be going out shortly.

  • Several special programs during the conference are being planned, including a musical evening on Monday, June 26. Plus, invitations have been extended to the award-winning authors of the AJL Jewish Fiction Award and the Sydney Taylor Book Awards.

  • During the 2022 annual conference, AJL will be following all CDC, State of Pennsylvania, and City of Philadelphia COVID guidelines, which may include wearing masks and maintaining social distance. Out of concern for the safety of conference attendees and guests, everyone attending is expected to be fully vaccinated. It will be necessary to show ID and proof of vaccination at registration.

In the coming weeks and months, we will be posting additional information about travel, vendors, tours, session details, volunteer opportunities, and more. The 2022 AJL Conference promises to be innovative, exciting, and interesting—plus. it will be great to gather in person once again in the City of Brotherly Love!
