Frank Wuest Open Water Swimming Awards

Amanda's zest for swimming is contagious. Amanda is a Team Manager and Coach with SheCoast Multi-Sport, a community organization that hosts clinics, events and provides coaching. She trains with Great Bay Masters and coordinates open water meetups. She has coached the Portsmouth High School Swim Team since 2019. Amanda is a certified Adult Learn to Swim Program instructor.
Amanda's open water swimming accomplishments include:
- Amanda was the first person to complete the Isle of Shoals circumnavigation swim of 9.22 km
- She completed the 25k Border Buster in 2022
- Completed the 2020 10k Swim with a Mission with a time of 3:09.09
“Amanda has been the most supportive and inspiring teammate and training partner. Whether it’s a 4 am wake up call or needing a pep talk 8 miles into a training swim, Amanda has been there to pick me up and keep me motivated.”
“Amanda has done this not just for me, but for so many on the seacoast, around New England, the country, and even the world. She will go out of her way traveling in a foreign country to find an OWS meet up group and form friendships there, she also inspires swimmers everywhere she goes. She’s a cheerleader at every level whether it’s a swim practice or a national level event."

Alana's passion and commitment for open water swimming helps grow the sport. She rallies fellow swimmers to join the fun, supports event directors and crushes open water swims.
Alana currently serves as the Chair of the NELMSC Board of Directors and is the former Communications Chair. She is the 2019 recipient of the US Masters Swimming June Krauser award for communication whose work in communications has contributed to the growth, improvement, or success of U.S. Masters Swimming locally, regionally, or nationally.
Alana's open water swimming accomplishments include:
- Double Boston Light Swim 2019, broke the speed record in 6:18.01
- 2nd overall in 2015 Charles River Swim
- 10K Kingdom Swims, VT: 2016, 5th; 2017 3rd; 2018, 2nd;
- 2019, Runner up in USMS National Championship OWS VT
- 2022 25km Border Buster Ultra Marathon Swim
- Won the 50 m Free 2022 Winter Swim Festival at 33 degrees
- 2019 overall winner of the 10k Swim with a Mission with a time of 2:37.53

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding long-term service to NELMSC. This award may be given annually to one individual based on leadership, membership recruitment, program development, and promotion of Masters Swimming at the club, NELMSC, and national levels. Nominees must have maintained current NELMSC registration for the last ten years.
The Contributor of the Year Award recognizes outstanding contributions to Masters Swimming during the preceding year. This award may be given annually to one individual based on support and leadership, membership recruitment, program development, and promotion of Masters Swimming at the club, NELMSC, and national levels during the year under consideration.
The Appreciation Award is designed to express special thanks to individuals who have made significant contributions to NELMSC. This award may be presented to multiple individuals who have made significant contributions toward the conduct, leadership, and support of NELMSC or its registered clubs. Nominees must have maintained current NELMSC registration for the last five years.
The Coach of the Year Award recognizes the NELMSC swimming coach who has demonstrated outstanding coaching qualities, club development, and overall NELMSC participation during the preceding year and over the coach's career with their club. This award may be given annually to one individual based on competitive and non-competitive factors such as club size and growth, club participation and results in various events, personal involvement in publications, clinics, and lectures, and contributions to USMS and NELMSC. The NELMSC Coach of the Year recipient will be nominated for the USMS Coach of the Year Award.
The Frank Wuest Open Water Swimming Award was established in honor of Frank Wuest to recognize outstanding contributions to open water and Masters Swimming in New England. Frank demonstrated an extraordinary passion for the sport of swimming and a deep commitment to its community. This award may be presented annually based on sportsmanship, mentorship, camaraderie, love of sport, hard work, event participation, promotion of swimming, and more. Nominees must be currently registered members of the NELMSC.
