These communities will compete in June for the title of All-America City!
March 28, 2023 - Since 1949, the National Civic League has recognized ten communities with the prestigious All-America City Award. These twenty finalists are being recognized for their work to improve the health and well-being of young people and, by extension, all residents. A primary focus was placed on communities that are authentically involving and welcoming youth in this work.

Finalist communities, representing 12 states, range in size from 4,700 residents to over 8 million. The finalists share a common bond of building the civic capacity of young people.
2023 All-America City Award
Creating Thriving Communities through Youth Engagement
The National Civic League is proud to announce the finalists for the 2023 All-America City Award (AAC). Finalists were selected after a competitive review process based on the criteria of shared vision, civic engagement, inclusiveness and equity, collaboration, innovation, and impact.

Each finalist submitted a robust application discussing the strengths of their civic capital—the formal and informal relationships, networks and capacities they use to make decisions and solve problems—and providing examples of three community-driven projects or programs that have adapted and transformed the community.

What Happens Next?
Finalist communities assemble in Denver, CO from June 9-11.

The 2023 All-America City Award Event and Competition will be in-person in Denver for the first time in three years, June 9-11. Communities named as finalists will assemble teams of residents, nonprofits, businesses, government leaders, young people, etc. to present their efforts around the year’s theme, “Creating Thriving Communities through Youth Engagement.”

During the event, these teams connect and share insights with peers, learn from national thought-leaders, and present the story of their work to a jury of nationally recognized civic leaders. The event will culminate at the closing ceremony where this year’s winners will be announced.
