An induction ceremony will be held in February, followed by the opening of the 17th class artifact exhibit. Time of Remembrance Programs


The Myths: From Enemy Aliens to Model Minority

Sat., February 10, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm


In observance of the 82nd anniversary of Executive Order 9066, which led to the incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans during WWII, the Northern California Time of Remembrance committee will host its annual Day of Remembrance program in partnership with the California Museum, featuring:


  • A screening of Not Your Model Minority by filmmaker Jon Osaki
  • Roundtable discussion featuring Osaki, Nikkei for Civil Rights and Redress co-chair Kathy Masaoka and Asian Law Caucus criminal justice reform program manager Carl Takei

Time of Remembrance Field Trips


Exploring citizenship, constitutionality and redress, the “Time of Remembrance” field trip brings a pivotal chapter of history to life through the first-hand accounts of Japanese American docents who experienced life behind barbed wire during WWII.
