The First CDO Certification Course

As we previously announced, and after intensive planning and development, we are thrilled to launch the first CDO Certification course. This course is designed to impart the knowledge and skills for data leaders to be successful in the CDO role. It consists of a blend of business, technical, and people skills most relevant to the role. The topics covered provide a comprehensive exposure in the data leadership field, including but not limited to the following: (1) In-depth learning modules taught by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and (2) Hands-on assignments and workshops.


The data leadership field has an obligation to facilitate and enable responsibly a career path for data professionals to the role of CDO, and along the way create, demonstrate, and drive value for their organizations.

CDOIQ Global Symposiums

The Annual CDOIQ Symposium, previously hosted at MIT, is a key event for exchanging cutting-edge ideas, content and data leadership knowledge. The following countries already co-host the CDOIQ Symposium: Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific. Additionally, Australia, Finland, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa are poised to host their regional Symposium.

FEDERAL AGENCIES A new law, signed on Jan. 14, pushes agencies to appoint or designate a qualified Chief Data Officer (CDO) without regard to political affiliation. Congress passed the Open, Public, Electronic and Necessary, (OPEN) Government Data Act as part of former House Speaker Paul Ryan’s Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act.

ARKANSAS In March 2017, the State of Arkansas 91st General Assembly passed Act 912 of House Bill 1793 to create a Panel on Data Transparency and to create the positions of Chief Data Officer and Chief Privacy Officer within the Department of Information Systems.
