The Kleins are well-known for the breadth and depth of their support for UT, from contributing signature pieces to the Blanton Museum of Art, to endowing scholarships and programs at the College of Education, to supporting the Harry Ransom Center, the Forty Acres Scholars, the School of Nursing, the Butler School of Music, and UT Press. But perhaps the most noteworthy story about their support for UT is this: they moved to Austin twenty years ago so they could give more of their time to the University. Jeanne has served as a member of the College of Education’s Advisory Council for over thirty years, and is working with the College on a program to address teacher attrition and retention in Texas schools. Mickey served as Chairman of the Board of UT Press, serves on the Ambassador’s Council of the Briscoe Center for American History, and has been a fixture at UT Elementary School, teaching and mentoring the students there. |
