But don't worry. While we've made it more flexible for you, we've made sure that officer, caller, and bystander safety remain the highest priorities of PPDS v7.0. The protocol is still recognized as the accepted standard of care and practice and backed, as always, by the IAED.
MOST FLEXIBLE
You submitted over 200 IAEPD Proposals for Change that the Academy has incorporated into PPDS v7.0. Some of those PFCs led to more than 100 Jurisdictionally Approved Questions and Instructions you can now turn on or off in ProQA®.
MOST ACCURATE
Many new Determinant Codes were also added to make sure you can send your officers the most accurate description of the scene in the least amount of time.
MOST LOCALLY RESPONSIVE
And remember the alternative call pathways we introduced with PPDS v6.4? They allow your emergency dispatchers to route non-urgent or low-priority events to non-traditional responses or special referrals while in ProQA. That means fewer officers will be assigned to handle calls that don’t require an on-scene presence.
We'll walk you through a few of the many key changes below. Please see the PPDS v7.0 Update Guide for a list of all changes.
