The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch^® (IAED^TM) and Priority Dispatch^® are pleased to introduce you to the most flexible, accurate, and locally responsive police dispatching protocol in law enforcement.

But don't worry. While we've made it more flexible for you, we've made sure that officer, caller, and bystander safety remain the highest priorities of PPDS v7.0. The protocol is still recognized as the accepted standard of care and practice and backed, as always, by the IAED. 

MOST FLEXIBLE

You submitted over 200 IAEPD Proposals for Change that the Academy has incorporated into PPDS v7.0. Some of those PFCs led to more than 100 Jurisdictionally Approved Questions and Instructions you can now turn on or off in ProQA^®. 

MOST ACCURATE

Many new Determinant Codes were also added to make sure you can send your officers the most accurate description of the scene in the least amount of time.

MOST LOCALLY RESPONSIVE

And remember the alternative call pathways we introduced with PPDS v6.4? They allow your emergency dispatchers to route non-urgent or low-priority events to non-traditional responses or special referrals while in ProQA. That means fewer officers will be assigned to handle calls that don’t require an on-scene presence.

GLOBAL

1. New suffixes have been added for “E = EMS needed” and “X = Both Weapon and EMS needed.”
2. The Vehicle Description Essentials list has been updated to include “VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).”
3. New CHARLIE-level Determinant Codes have been added for several “just occurred” incidents.
4. New BRAVO-level Determinant Codes have been added for several PAST Event “suspect in area” incidents.
5. The Police Council of Standards has approved several new Jurisdictionally Approved Instructions that are formatted in a purple font for emergency dispatchers.

PROTOCOL 106: ASSAULT/SEXUAL ASSAULT/SHOOTING/STABBING

1. The title for Protocol 106 has been changed to Assault/Sexual Assault/ Shooting/Stabbing.
2. New Determinant Codes have been added for sexual violence incidents.
3. New Determinant Codes have been added for drive-by shooting incidents.
4. A new Key Question sequence has been added for Hospital (healthcare facility) reporting.

OTHER PROTOCOL CHANGES

1. Protocol 111: Damage/Vandalism/Mischief – New Determinant Codes have been added for property damage incidents.
2. Protocol 123: Missing/Runaway/Found Person – New Key Questions and Suffixes have been added to accommodate cases involving people with autism spectrum disorder.
3. The title of Protocol 131 has been changed to Traffic Collision/Transportation Incident.
4. Protocol P: Person Trapped in Vehicle Trunk has been added and provides instructions on how to escape after being locked in a trunk.
5. New Key Question sequences have been added for:

• Protocol 103: Administrative (Lost or Found Property, Found Unexploded Ordnance, Messages, Transports) – Property/Vacation check
• Protocol 105: Animal – Animal NEGLECT
• Protocol 132: Traffic Violation/Complaint/Hazard – Traffic enforcement request
• Protocol 135: Weapons/Firearms – SHOTS FIRED (heard only), SHOTS FIRED (suspect seen), WEAPON INCIDENT, Carrying concealed WEAPON, Open carry of WEAPON, and Found/Surrendered WEAPON
